Job summary

FIS in Chennai, India seeks a Senior Software Engineer (C++) to design, develop and enhance enterprise-grade software supporting financial services operations. You will collaborate with product managers, architects and engineers to translate requirements into scalable, reliable applications.

You will contribute across the full SDLC from design to deployment, mentor junior engineers, perform code reviews, and ensure quality through unit and integration tests.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience developing commercial software applications using C++.
• Strong understanding of OO programming, data structures, algorithms and design principles.
• Experience with software lifecycle methodologies (Agile, iterative, waterfall).
• Experience designing, developing, testing and optimizing enterprise applications.

About The Role

As a Senior Software Engineer specializing in C++, you will design, develop, and enhance enterprise‑grade software solutions that support critical financial services operations. You will collaborate with product managers, architects, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable, reliable, and high‑performing applications. In this role, you will contribute across the full software development lifecycle, from design and coding to testing and deployment. Success is measured through software quality, technical innovation, system performance, and delivery of business value.

What You Will Be Doing

• Design, develop, test, and maintain high-performance software applications using C++ and modern development practices
• Collaborate with product managers, business stakeholders, and engineering teams to define technical requirements and solution designs
• Analyze complex business and technical challenges and deliver scalable, maintainable software solutions
• Create detailed technical specifications, architecture components, and design documentation
• Perform code reviews and promote engineering best practices, coding standards, and software quality initiatives
• Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve application defects to ensure reliability, stability, and performance
• Participate in software design discussions and contribute to architecture and technology decisions
• Develop and execute unit, integration, and system testing to ensure high-quality releases
• Support deployment, implementation, and maintenance activities while ensuring operational excellence
• Mentor junior engineers and share technical expertise across development teams and stakeholders

What Your Bring

• 5+ years of experience developing commercial software applications using C++

Good Experience in IST/Switch , Payment switch/processing, ISO 8583 messaging.

• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and software design principles
• Experience with software development lifecycle methodologies, including Agile, iterative, and waterfall approaches
• Proven ability to design, develop, test, and optimize complex enterprise applications
• Strong knowledge of design patterns, software architecture, and application scalability principles
• Experience creating technical documentation, system specifications, and solution designs
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience within banking, financial services, fintech, or regulated environments
• Knowledge of networking, operating systems, database technologies, middleware, and distributed systems
• Experience with performance tuning, multithreading, and concurrent programming in C++
• Familiarity with software quality frameworks, industry standards, and continuous improvement methodologies
• Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to technical leadership initiatives
