Job summary

Ciena, including its Blue Planet division, is seeking a skilled C++ software engineer to design, develop, and test high-performance networking software. The role focuses on scalable, reliable networking applications and API development within an Agile environment.

You will collaborate with engineering teams and partners to integrate new capabilities, perform comprehensive testing, and communicate technical designs and project status effectively.

Qualifications

• Education: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field OR Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: 4+ years of experience in C++ software development.
• Application of networking concepts in software development.
• Experience with API development.
• Experience applying Agile methodology.
• Knowledge of testing methodologies and tools.
• Excellent communication and presentation delivery skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain C++ software for networking applications and systems.
• Design and implement APIs for software components and services.
• Apply Agile methodologies throughout software development activities, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
• Develop and integrate software components supporting control systems and network functionality.

• Perform unit, integration, and system testing to validate software quality and reliability.
