Hitachi ABB Power Grids in India seeks a Project Buyer - Expeditor to manage end-to-end procurement for project materials and services, ensuring timely PO placement and on-time deliveries aligned with schedules.
You will interface with suppliers, project management, engineering, logistics, and quality teams to mitigate risks, expediting orders and resolving invoice issues while supporting process improvements.
The Project Buyer - Expeditor is responsible for end-to-end procurement support and expediting activities for project-specific materials and services. The role ensures timely placement of purchase orders, proactive follow-up with suppliers, and on-time delivery in line with project schedules, quality standards, and contractual requirements. The position acts as a key interface between suppliers, project management team, engineering, logistics, and quality functions to mitigate supply risks and avoid delays.
Project Material Planning:
Understand the project’s material requirements, evaluate the lead time for each item, and process purchase orders for long lead‑time materials.
Act as the single point of contact for assigned suppliers for order status, documentation, and delivery
Coordinate with suppliers on inspections, testing, packing, and dispatch readiness as per the timeline agreed.
Monitor supplier performance, elevate supplier performance issues and support resolution of non-conformances or deviations
Order Tracking & Delivery Management:
Proactively expedite purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery of materials and documents
Track supplier progress against committed delivery dates and project milestones
Identify potential delays early and implement corrective actions in coordination with suppliers and project teams
Maintain accurate delivery status in ERP/project tracking systems and issue regular expediting reports
Coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams for smooth receipt of materials.
Collaborate with Accounts Payable to ensure accurate and timely processing of supplier invoices.
Resolve invoice mismatches and payment issues in coordination with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Quality Notification Management:
Resolve the quality notifications assigned by the IQC team on timely Manner.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
Work closely with internal departments such as Project Management, Planning, Engineering, Finance, and Quality to align procurement activities with business needs.
Support cross-functional initiatives to improve the P2P process.
Support inspection planning, shipping coordination, and invoice resolution
Provide timely updates to stakeholders on procurement and delivery status
Identify opportunities for process optimization and cost savings.
Participate in initiatives to enhance procurement efficiency and supplier collaboration.
Excellent skills in Speaking, Reading and writing English language
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related discipline.
3–7 years of experience in project procurement, buying, or expediting
Experience in EPC, manufacturing, oil & gas, power, infrastructure, or capital projects preferred.
Should be familiar with SAP MM Module (Creating PR, PO etc.)
Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
