About the Function

The primary purpose of the position is to lead and manage the India business strategy and day to day finance and reporting requirements of Woodside Global Solutions (WGS) and LakesEntrance Pvt Ltd.

The Business Manager will be an integral part of the leadership team for Woodside Global Solutions, supporting the local operations and transitioned teams in Bengaluru. The Business Manager will need to build and maintain positive relationships with their customers and be actively involved with the team in the operational management of activities. This includes dealing with stakeholders in various international locations including Houston and Perth.

We are looking for candidates who have:

  • An ability to work independently and prioritise varying demands from the transitioned teams and handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to a range of finance and non-finance stakeholders to build positive internal working relationships
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem solving, planning, delivering to deadlines and analytical ability
  • Comprehensive knowledge of International/India Accounting Standards (IFRS and IndAS)
  • Ability to understand contracts and underlying assumptions to ensure accurate cost allocation
  • Understanding of the budgeting, planning, costing processes and how these are/ should be reflected in various financial systems
  • Keen commitment to continuous improvement
  • Demonstrates resilience when faced with challenges and set-backs and be curious about the marketing, trading and shipping industry
  • Establishes deadlines and guidelines with stakeholders and customers and consistently follows through in responding to queries
About the Role

Lead and manage all finance and compliance activities in India and be the primary conduit between Woodside Bengaluru (LakesEntrance Pvt Ltd) and the Finance functional teams. Effectively communicate all relevant issues and ensure that functional teams are informed of all local finance initiatives and processes that will impact them, and vice versa.

FP&P
  • Trusted financial manager of the Woodside Global Solutions (WGS) team providing interpretation of local requirements into Woodside’s financial framework
  • Partnering with head office (Perth) for the management of forecast/budget and monthly reporting requirements
  • Support quarterly and annual review and commentary for the WGS expenditure/risks and opportunities for budgets and forecasts
  • Providing timely financial input to aid decision making specifically liaising with tax support and treasury
  • Manage the Bengaluru and India business interface with corporate teams with financial requests (expenditure costs, time writing, codes, various ad hoc analysis requests and queries)
  • Manage monthly governance of Woodside Bengaluru costs
  • Challenge and influence expenditure and cost through understanding of Woodside Bengaluru business outcomes
  • Deliver insights and analysis to support financial recommendations and strategy
  • Develop and deliver further automated data analysis solutions and reports
  • Lead development and implementation of financial business process improvements for India activities
Duties and Responsibilities
Tax
  • Lead and manage the provision of accounting data and information to Head Office (Perth) Tax Team to support Indian Tax compliance obligations
  • Lead and manage the provision of assistance to Head Office (Perth) Tax Team to support Indian Revenue Authority queries or Audits
  • Assistance with Tax Accounting where required. In country support in liaising with external Tax Advisers and Indian Revenue Authority were requested by Head Office (Perth) Tax Team.
GFC
  • Management of in-country legislative FEMA compliance requirements
  • Support the management of contract reviews (when required) for lease and embedded derivative identification.
  • Partnering with HR to ensure all payroll requirements from an accounting perspective are being met and liaising with head office payroll accountant where required.
  • Liaise with the Accounting Service Providers within India performing compliance activities for LakesEntrance.
General
  • Lead and manage guidance on compliance with the MOA and India specific MOA
  • Management of all WGS contracts, as well as providing advice on complex and emerging projects and issues
Skills and Experience

Mandatory Requirements: University degree in accounting, and professional qualification or studying towards (CA/CPA) or equivalent.

Technical Skills / Experience:

  • Comprehensive experience leading business and finance outcomes and activities in a multi-national company
  • Comprehensive knowledge and working experience of Indian Accounting Standards (IndAS)
  • A comprehensive knowledge of India’s tax legislation
  • Understanding of Foreign Exchange Monetary Act (FEMA) requirements
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem solving, analytical ability and organisation
  • Experience in SAP/Power BI or similar accounting software and proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to stakeholders to build positive internal working relationships
  • An ability to work independently and prioritise varying demands
  • Ability to understand India specific contracts and underlying assumptions to ensure accurate cost allocation Understanding of the costing process, residuals, recoveries and rates for functions and understanding of payroll processes
  • Strong financial and commercial analytical skills
