Job summary

Consult In India is seeking a senior leader to own the branded business unit across India, with end-to-end responsibility for strategy, growth, and execution. You will guide a national sales and marketing organization, drive channel partnerships, and ensure regulatory compliance for Biologicals and crop nutrition products.

The role requires extensive travel across Pan-India, strong P&L accountability, and a track record of delivering sales targets while building a scalable branded portfolio.

Qualifications

  • 22+ years of sales and marketing experience in the agrochemical industry.
  • Proven track record managing national sales and marketing teams.
  • Experience marketing Biologicals and crop nutrition products.
  • Prior P&L or business-unit leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute sales and marketing strategies for the branded portfolio.
  • Provide leadership to Pan-India sales and marketing teams.
  • Plan budget, targets, and roll out channel partnerships nationwide.
  • Lead NPI launches, campaigns, and market activations.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and accurate forecasting.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

1. Business Strategy & Growth
  • Develop and execute comprehensive sales and marketing strategies for the Company Brand Business
  • Identify growth opportunities and competitive threats across product categories and geographies
  • Own the CBB P&L topline delivery, market-share objectives, and bottom-line accountability
  • Lead annual business planning, budgeting, and sales-force/organization design for the brand business
  • Track industry, regulatory, and competitor developments to keep strategy current
2. Pan-India Sales Leadership
  • Provide leadership and direction to the Pan-India sales and marketing team
  • Set and cascade sales targets across regions/zones; hold the organization accountable for delivery
  • Build and maintain relationships with key distributors, dealers, and channel partners nationally
  • Drive channel reach, dealer/retailer engagement, and farmer-facing activation programs
  • Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing national sales and marketing organization
3. Brand & Marketing Execution
  • Own brand positioning and go-to-market strategy for the Company branded portfolio, including Biologicals and crop nutrition products
  • Plan and optimize marketing/promotional spend for campaign effectiveness and ROI
  • Lead new product introduction (NPI) launches pre-launch demonstrations, channel readiness, and market activation
  • Build brand advocacy with growers, dealers, and channel partners
  • Ensure marketing communications and campaigns are aligned to category and brand goals
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Collaborate with product development to align the branded portfolio with market and grower needs
  • Work with supply chain to ensure product availability aligns with sales and campaign plans
  • Partner with finance on budgeting, pricing, and margin management for the brand business
  • Coordinate with regulatory/quality functions to keep product claims and launches compliant
5. Performance Monitoring & Governance
  • Monitor and analyze sales performance metrics to track progress and optimize strategy
  • Owns the Trade receivable and controls the Working capital
  • Own forecast accuracy and sales planning discipline across the Pan-India team
  • Publish regular business performance reviews for leadership
  • Drive corrective action on underperforming regions, channels, or product lines
6. Regulatory & Industry Compliance
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of regulatory requirements in the agrochemical sector
  • Ensure sales, marketing, and promotional practices remain compliant with applicable regulations
  • Partner with regulatory affairs on product registration and claims support relevant to commercial launches

Preferred candidate profile

Education:
  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Chemistry or Agriculture
  • MBA Marketing, Finance, or a similar specialization
Experience:
  • 22+ years of sales and marketing experience in the agrochemical industry
  • Proven track record managing sales and marketing teams in a national capacity
  • Demonstrated track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth
  • Experience marketing Biologicals and crop nutrition products
  • Prior P&L or business-unit leadership experience strongly preferred
Technical Skills:
  • Strong understanding of the agchem industry, market dynamics, and trends
  • Good understanding of regulatory requirements in the agrochemical sector
  • Working knowledge of sales performance analytics and forecasting tools
  • Familiarity with channel/distributor management systems
Competencies:
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Ability to identify opportunities and competitive threats and act decisively
  • Strong cross-functional influencing skills across product development, supply chain, and finance
  • High ownership mindset treats P&L and market share as personal accountability
  • Comfortable with extensive travel across a Pan-India territory
Preferred Background
  • Prior experience in an agrochemical or crop-input company with a strong branded/consumer-facing business
  • Candidates with a career path spanning both large Indian agrochem majors and multinational players are typically well-suited to this seniority level
  • Experience building or scaling a branded consumer-facing portfolio (as opposed to purely institutional/B2B agrochem sales) is a strong plus
