Job summary

Axalta is seeking a Business Development Manager in Mumbai to lead market and customer development for core industrial coating segments. You will engage with key customers and partners, translate VOC insights into value propositions, and drive opportunities from prospecting to commercialization.

Responsibilities

• Develop understanding of target industrial coating segments: market size, growth drivers, customer needs, and competitive landscape.
• Engage with key customers, OEMs, and ecosystem partners to understand application requirements, specs, and decision processes.
• Drive Voice of Customer insights to inform product positioning, value propositions, and innovation priorities.
• Identify and develop new business opportunities, including new accounts, applications, and adjacent segments within industrial coatings.
• Support the development and execution of segment-level growth plans aligned with India strategy.
• Partner with sales and technical teams to progress opportunities from prospecting to commercialization, including trials and scale-up.
• Track and manage a robust opportunity pipeline with disciplined follow-through toward growth targets.
• Work with R&D and technical service to translate customer needs into viable coating solutions and support product launches.
• Coordinate with SCM and operations to ensure feasibility, supply readiness, and cost competitiveness for new opportunities.
• Collaborate with marketing to support segment-focused value propositions, technical content, and customer engagement initiatives (trade shows, seminars, digital content).
• Support the Director - Strategy and BD with market research, competitive intelligence, and business case development for priority initiatives.
• Contribute to evaluation of strategic partnerships, collaborations, or inorganic opportunities, as relevant.

Market & Customer Development

• Develop a strong understanding of target industrial coating segments (e.g., infrastructure, energy, electrical, general industrial, mobility-related applications, etc.), including market size, growth drivers, customer needs, and competitive landscape.
• Engage closely with key customers, OEMs, and ecosystem partners to understand application requirements, specifications, and decision-making processes.

Business Development & Growth Execution

• Identify and develop new business opportunities, including new accounts, new applications, and adjacent segments within industrial coatings.
