Job Description: Territory Sales Manager (TSM)

Position: Territory Sales Manager(TSM)
Department: Sales & Marketing
Reports To: Regional Sales Manager / National Sales Head
Location: Maharashtra

Job Summary:

The Territory Sales Manager (TSM) is responsible for driving sales growth, managing distributor networks, and expanding market share for agriculture input products within an assigned territory. The role involves team leadership, strategic planning, and farmer/dealer engagement to achieve revenue targets.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Sales & Revenue Management:
  • Develop and execute territory sales plans to achieve monthly/quarterly/annual targets.
  • Monitor sales performance, analyze gaps, and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure proper product availability, pricing, and promotions in the market.
2. Team Leadership & Field Sales Supervision:
  • Lead and motivate a team of Sales Officers/Field Executives.
  • Conduct joint field visits, coach the team, and ensure productivity.
  • Monitor competitor activities and adapt sales strategies accordingly.
3. Farmer & Dealer Engagement:
  • Organize farmer meetings, demo plots, and field days to promote products.
  • Build strong relationships with key farmers.
  • Resolve customer complaints and ensure high satisfaction levels.
4. Market Intelligence & Reporting:
  • Track market trends, competitor strategies, and pricing dynamics.
  • Prepare and submit sales forecasts, stock reports, and territory performance updates.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and agrochemical regulations.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
  • Bachelors/Masters degree in Agriculture (Agri Business, Agronomy), Horticulture, or related field.
  • MBA in Sales/Marketing is a plus.
Experience:
  • 5+ years in agricultural input products.
  • Minimum 2 years in a team-leading role.
Skills & Competencies:

Strong agri-market knowledge (crop cycles, farming practices, pest/disease management).
Proven sales & negotiation skills with ability to close deals.
Leadership & team management – ability to drive field sales teams.
Excellent communication (local language fluency preferred).
Analytical mindset – able to interpret sales data and market trends.
Willingness to travel extensively (80% field travel).
Valid driving license (two-wheeler/four-wheeler).
