About the opportunity

We're hiring a Investment Banking Analyst – Deal Originationfor a lean, fast-growing private equity group that invests alongside independent sponsors, small teams that find and lead acquisitions. You'll manage outreach, follow-ups and sponsor calls, identify new relationship and referral channels, and assess potential deals at a high level before passing relevant opportunities to the investment team. You'll also help build the CRM and processes that keep these relationships organised and active over time.

What you will do

  • Manage replies, follow-ups and intro calls with independent investors to understand their focus, deal flow and fit.
  • Review new deals at a high level, gather the information needed for an initial fit check, and pass relevant opportunities to the investment team.
  • Build and maintain long-term investor relationships, including when there isn't an immediate deal.
Finding new channels
  • Find new sponsors, lenders, M&A advisers, referral sources and communities that can generate relevant introductions.
  • Test new ways to reach and build relationships with relevant people beyond existing channels.
  • Introduce suitable accredited investors to the group and guide them towards the onboarding process.
Building the system

  • Track where opportunities and relationships come from, and share useful market insights with the team.
Who we are looking for
  • You have 3-5 years of experience in finance, lending, M&A, deal sourcing or financial-services outbound, and terms like EBITDA, leverage and enterprise value don't faze you.
  • You can understand an acquisition opportunity at a high level and spot whether it's worth a deeper look.
  • You've followed up persistently without becoming a nuisance, can tell real interest from polite interest, and communicate clearly and professionally in English.
  • You're properly organised and believe a CRM should reflect reality (notes, next steps, relationship status and follow-up dates).
Bonus points if you have
