Job summary

AMERICAN EXPRESS is seeking a seasoned professional to drive Operational Governance and Process Excellence within GREWE. You will lead risk mitigation, governance, and continuous improvement across the global real estate portfolio, coordinating with business, compliance, procurement, and technology teams.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Third Party Risk Management, Vendor Governance, Operational Risk, Compliance, Internal Audit, or related governance.
  • Experience managing end-to-end third-party lifecycle activities, including due diligence, contracting support, monitoring, and governance reporting.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects and drive process governance, regulatory or policy compliance.
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and risk assessment skills with trend identification and risk mitigation.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and collaboration skills with leadership presentation ability.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, risk management; certifications (PMP, CRISC, CISA, Lean Six Sigma) are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Risk & Control Analysis: Analyze Risk Performance Rating (RPR), PRSA/RCSA, and Compliance Risk Assessment data.
  • Business Analysis & Process Improvement: Gather requirements, map processes, identify improvement opportunities.
  • Regulatory Reporting & Governance: Support reporting, policy governance, and sustainability reporting with data validation.
  • Stakeholder & Third-Party Management: Collaborate with business, compliance, procurement, and tech to manage TLM.
  • Risk Reporting & Insights: Develop dashboards and metrics to monitor OREs, issues, remediations, and KRIs.
  • Audit & Compliance Support: Coordinate audits, track findings and remediation plans, maintain governance docs.
  • Ad hoc Responsibility: Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

This role will be part of the Global Operational Excellence & Risk Management function within the Global Real Estate & Workplace Experience (GREWE) team, driving operational excellence, governance, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement across the global real estate portfolio.

  • 5+ years of experience, including 3+ years in Third Party Risk Management, Vendor Governance, Operational Risk, Compliance, Internal Audit, or a related governance function.
  • Experience managing end-to-end third-party lifecycle activities, including due diligence, contracting support, ongoing monitoring, issue management, and governance reporting.
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional projects and driving process governance, operational improvements, and regulatory or policy compliance.
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and risk assessment skills, with experience identifying trends, evaluating risks, and recommending practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and collaboration skills with the ability to influence diverse stakeholders and present to leadership.
  • Bachelor s degree in business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field; relevant certifications (PMP, CRISC, CISA, Lean Six Sigma, etc.) are an advantage.
Operational Governance & Process Excellence
  1. Risk & Control Analysis: Analyze Risk Performance Rating (RPR), PRSA/RCSA, and Compliance Risk Assessment data to identify control gaps, support remediation initiatives, and enhance the effectiveness of risk and control frameworks.
  2. Business Analysis & Process Improvement: Gather business requirements, map current and future-state processes, identify process improvement opportunities, and support the implementation of risk and compliance initiatives.
  3. Regulatory Reporting & Governance: Support regulatory reporting, policy governance, and sustainability reporting by coordinating data collection, validating information, and ensuring adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  4. Stakeholder & Third-Party Management: Collaborate with business, compliance, procurement, and technology stakeholders to manage Third-Party Lifecycle Management (TLM), resolve issues, and ensure timely execution of governance activities.
  5. Risk Reporting & Insights: Develop dashboards, management reports, and performance metrics to monitor Operational Risk Events (OREs), Issues, Remediations, and key risk indicators, providing actionable insights to leadership.
  6. Audit & Compliance Support: Coordinate internal and external audit activities, track audit findings and remediation plans, maintain governance documentation, and support compliance reviews to ensure effective control execution.
  7. Ad hoc Responsibility: Perform other duties and special projects as assigned to support business and organizational objectives. Responsibilities may evolve over time to meet changing business needs.
