Job summary

Embitel Technologies is seeking a Release Manager to plan and coordinate software releases across PI and sprint cadences in Bengaluru. The role requires hands-on experience with CI/CD and release governance to ensure timely delivery.

You will manage build readiness, artifact versioning, SRR preparation, and cross-functional communications with Development, QA, and Customer teams, while driving process improvements and automation for smoother handoffs.

Responsibilities

Job description

• Plan and align releases with PI/Sprint cadence: Plan release according to the release calendar and balance with available team capacity, align with PIs/sprints and program objectives.

• Plan ad-hoc build requests on customer demand

• Build readiness and integration

Coordinate creation of Java release candidates and input of native build elements, trigger/monitor CI builds, perform full promote in the relevant tool environment after release candidate creation.

• Versioning and packaging

Create build requests with correct component versions; ensure artifacts are versioned and published with provenance (commit/build).

• Delivery execution and repository sync

Repository synchronization and delivery management .

prepare the delivery package (artifacts, notes, evidence, recipients).

• Quality gates and evidence

Ensure static checks, tests, and required “quality services” pass, collect and link evidence for acceptance (release readiness).

• Release documentation and approval

Prepare the Software Release Readiness (SRR) document and obtain approval from Project Management, keep Confluence/Jira release records consistent.

• Issue handling and communication

Support on‑demand blocker/hotfix releases, contact impacted teams on build issues, contact Cariad build teams for support, provide status, risks, and go/no‑go recommendations.

• Process stewardship

Create/maintain the release management workflow, continuously improve automation and handoffs across teams.

Required Skills:

Release Management Processes & Methodologies

• Strong understanding of Agile and SAFe release management practices, including PI planning, sprint alignment, release cadence management, scope freeze, release branching, and hotfix strategies.
• Experience in end-to-end software release management, including Software Release Readiness (SRR) preparation, release governance, and stakeholder approval processes.
• Knowledge of change management and defect management processes, with the ability to align critical change requests and high-priority defects to release planning and gating criteria.

CI/CD, Build & Release Tooling

• Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, or equivalent build automation platforms.
• Proficiency in monitoring build pipelines, triggering releases, managing build promotions, and ensuring artifact traceability.
• Strong experience with Jira (DevStack/VWIF or equivalent), including Fix Versions, Release Hubs, JQL queries, dashboards, and release tracking.
• Proficiency in Confluence for maintaining release documentation, SRR records, release checklists, evidence repositories, and delivery logs.
• Good understanding of Git-based version control systems, repository synchronization, branching strategies, and release management workflows.
• Familiarity with static code analysis, security scanning, test automation frameworks, and quality gate validation processes.

Technical Skills

• Understanding Java-based applications, service-oriented architectures, and native build environments.
• Knowledge of software versioning, branching strategies, tagging, hotfix management, and reproducible build practices.
• Awareness of software integration processes, dependency management, and release integration constraints across distributed systems.
• Understanding software build artifacts, packaging, deployment preparation, and release distribution mechanisms.

Quality, Compliance & Traceability

• Experience in release evidence management and end-to-end traceability from requirements and Jira work items to commits, builds, test results, and delivered artifacts.
• Ability to prepare comprehensive release packages, including SRR documentation, release notes, rollback procedures, known issues, and approval records.
• Understanding of software quality standards, compliance requirements, audit readiness, and release governance processes.
• Knowledge of data protection and information security practices related to release documentation and artifact management.

Communication & Stakeholder Management

• Strong coordination and stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate across Development, QA, Architecture, Integration, Product Owners, Project Managers, and Customer teams.
• Excellent problem-solving skills to drive resolution of build, integration, and release-related issues.
• Ability to communicate release status, risks, dependencies, mitigation plans, and go/no-go recommendations to senior stakeholders.
• Strong documentation skills for creating release notes, delivery communications, and status reports.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple concurrent releases.
