Job summary

Sunrise Biztech Systems in Hyderabad is seeking a BootRom Verification Engineer with 5-8 years of experience for a full-time role.

The position focuses on validating the BootROM in AMD/Xilinx SoCs, establishing Root of Trust and validating authentication and encryption algorithms. You will develop test cases, automate with Python, and collaborate across teams to ensure robust security features.

Qualifications

• High level understanding of SOC internals; firmware development or verification experience preferred.
• Proficiency in Python is required for test automation and scripting.
• Knowledge of embedded security is a plus for secure boot concepts.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test cases to validate boot peripherals (FSBL origin) such as xSPI, SD, eMMC, UFS, USB.
• Create and execute test cases to validate proprietary boot sequences.
• Develop and execute test cases to validate all internal boot modes.
• Write and run test cases to validate authentication algorithms.
• Develop and execute test cases to validate encryption/decryption algorithms.
• Automate tests using Python.
• Test on prototyping/emulation platforms, including X86 emulation.
• Identify, document, and track issues using JIRA.
• Report coverage metrics using Verdi and add tests for maximum source line coverage.
• Review requirements and create test cases for traceability.
• Collaborate with teams to resolve blockers and improve BootROM quality.
• Engage with design team to discuss improvements and security aspects.
• Conduct security threat analysis using internal tools.
• Adhere to safety processes while performing tasks.

BootROM is a crucial firmware component in AMD/Xilinx SoCs, responsible for loading the first-stage boot loader. Unlike standard ROMs, this BootROM is more complex in nature. Its key responsibility includes establishing the Root of Trust using advanced security algorithms for authentication and confidentiality. Examples of these algorithms include RSA, ECDSA, AES, and others.

The primary responsibility is the validation of BootROM, which includes the following tasks:

• Develop and execute test cases to validate all boot peripherals from where the FSBL (First Stage Boot Loader) is copied. Example: xSPI, SD, eMMC, UFS, USB
• Create and execute test cases to validate all proprietary boot sequences.
• Develop and execute test cases to validate all internal boot modes.
• Write and run test cases to validate all supported authentication algorithms.
• Develop and execute test cases to validate all supported encryption/decryption algorithms.
• Automate tests using Python.
• Perform testing on prototyping/emulation platforms, including X86 emulation.
• Identify, document, and track issues using JIRA.
• Report coverage metrics using tools such as Verdi, and add tests to ensure maximum source line coverage.
• Review requirements and create associated test cases to ensure traceability.
• Collaborate with different teams to resolve any blockers.
