Summary
The ideal candidate for the Boomi Systems Engineer role will have 7+ years of hands‑on experience designing, building, and operating integrations on the Boomi AtomSphere platform, with a strong focus on integration architecture, API management, B2B/EDI, data quality, and platform governance. You will own the reliability, performance, and security of our Boomi footprint and collaborate across Finance, Operations, Sales, and IT to ensure high‑quality, scalable integrations that enable our business. Candidates with Boomi certifications will be given priority consideration.
Essential Functions
- Design, build, and maintain Boomi processes, integrations, and APIs using AtomSphere, following best practices for modularity, resiliency, and reusability.
- Develop integrations across core business systems (e.g., NetSuite, CRM, data warehouse, HRIS, and custom applications) using REST/SOAP, database, SFTP, and application‑specific connectors.
- Implement robust error handling, retry logic, queuing, and idempotency to ensure data integrity and fault tolerance.
API Management & Governance
- Publish and manage APIs using Boomi API Management; define specifications, policies, throttling, authentication/authorization (OAuth2, JWT), and versioning.
- Establish standards, conventions, and documentation for integration patterns, naming, logging, and monitoring.
Platform Administration & Security
- Administer Atoms/Molecules/Atoms Clouds, environments, listeners, and schedules; plan and execute platform upgrades.
- Harden integrations and runtime with least‑privilege access, secrets management, and compliance with company security policies.
User Support, Enablement & Training
- Provide expert‑level support to business and technical users; troubleshoot integration and platform issues.
- Develop training materials and lead enablement sessions for developers, analysts, and admins.
- Partner with Finance, Sales, Operations, Data, and Security teams to translate business processes into scalable integration designs.
- Coordinate with vendors and third parties to deliver end‑to‑end solutions and manage change effectively.
Experience
- At least 7 years of hands‑on experience with Boomi AtomSphere, including design, development, administration, and operations.
- Proven experience integrating enterprise platforms such as NetSuite (preferred), Salesforce or other CRM, data warehouse/lake, HRIS, and custom applications.
- Demonstrated expertise with API‑first design, event‑driven patterns, and asynchronous messaging.
Certifications
- Boomi Professional Developer (preferred); Boomi Architect and Admin certifications are a plus.
- Relevant cloud/platform certifications (e.g., Azure/AWS), and security certifications (e.g., Security+) are a plus.
Competencies, Skills and Abilities
- Expertise in REST/SOAP, JSON/XML, OAuth2/SAML, SQL; familiarity with Postman/Insomnia and schema validation (XSD/JSON Schema).
- Experience with Git‑based workflows and CI/CD tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
- Boomi API Management, Boomi Flow (low code), Master Data Hub (MDH), and B2B/EDI (X12/EDIFACT, AS2).
- Environment administration (Atoms/Molecules/Atom Clouds), secure key/certificate management, and schedule/listener configuration.
- Monitoring/observability and logging; experience integrating with SIEM/monitoring tools is a plus.
- Exceptional problem‑solving and analytical skills with a bias for action and ownership.
- Clear, concise communication—able to translate technical details for non‑technical stakeholders.
- Strong documentation habits, organization, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
