Trusent Consulting in Pune seeks a Senior Engineer- BMS hardware to design, validate, and support battery management system hardware for EV and ESS applications. You will develop schematics, PCB layouts, and select AFE ICs, MCUs, and power components for safe, reliable battery monitoring and communication.

Collaborate with firmware and systems teams across the project lifecycle, perform hardware testing and reliability validation, and ensure compliance with safety and EMI/EMC standards.

Job Title: Senior Engineer- BMS hardware

Role Overview:

The BMS Hardware Engineer is responsible for the design, development, validation, and support of Battery Management System hardware for EV or stationary energy storage applications. The role focuses on safe, reliable battery monitoring, protection, and communication at pack and module levels.

Job Description / Core Responsibilities:

• a) Design and develop BMS hardware schematics and PCB layouts (module and pack level)
• b) Select and interface battery monitoring ICs (AFE), microcontrollers, sensors, and power components
• c) Design voltage, current, and temperature sensing circuits
• d) Develop isolation, protection, and safety circuits for high-voltage battery systems
• e) Support PCB bring-up, debugging, and validation activities
• f) Perform signal integrity, EMC/EMI, and thermal considerations during design
• g) Coordinate with firmware and systems teams for hardware-software integration
• h) Conduct hardware testing, validation, and reliability testing
• i) Support compliance with functional safety and battery standards
• j) Prepare and maintain schematics, BOMs, design documents, and test reports

Skills desired:

• a) Strong experience in BMS hardware design
• b) Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB tools (Altium, OrCAD, Cadence, KiCad)
• c) Hands-on experience with AFE ICs, microcontrollers, and communication interfaces
• d) Knowledge of Li-ion battery chemistries (LFP, NMC, NCA, etc.)
• e) Experience with current sensing (shunt, Hall-effect) and isolation techniques
• f) Familiarity with CAN, SPI, I2C, UART hardware interfaces
• g) Experience in hardware debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters
• h) Understanding of functional safety concepts (ISO 26262 / IEC 61508)
• i) Knowledge of EMI/EMC and high-voltage safety practices
• j) Strong documentation and cross-functional collaboration skills

Education requirements:

1. bachelors/masters degree in engineering or a related field.
2. 10 +years of experience in design of Li-ion battery packs for ESS, automotive, UPS, -inverter, or related applications.
