Job summary

Cowi in Chennai is seeking a BIM Engineer - Electrical to join our Buildings, MEP team. You will contribute to and co-create prestigious projects for Scandinavia, leveraging Revit MEP and BIM workflows.

You will develop electrical BIM models, coordinate with global teams, and ensure quality through QA/QC, with a focus on ISO 19650 and LOD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 3–6 years of electrical BIM modelling experience.
• Proficiency in Revit MEP, Navisworks/Solibri, AutoCAD, BIM 360/ACC and Dynamo scripting.
• Familiarity with BIM standards and ISO 19650.
• Experience coordinating international BIM projects.

We are currently seeking a BIM Engineer - Electrical to join our Buildings, MEP team in Chennai. In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to and co-create some of the most prestigious building projects in Scandinavia.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain electrical BIM models using Revit MEP in line with project BIM Execution Plans.
• Prepare:
  • Lighting layouts (general emergency)
  • Power distribution systems (LV/MV, small power)
  • Cable routing and containment layouts
  • Fire alarm and ELV system layouts
  • Earthing, lightning protection layouts
• Generate design drawings, sections and schedules directly from BIM models.
• Perform clash detection and coordination using tools such as Navisworks/Solibri.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, architecture, structural) to ensure coordinated design delivery.
• Prepare LOD model development as per project requirements.
• Model reviews, QA/QC processes and coordination meetings with international stakeholders.
• Maintain proper model documentation, version control and data integrity.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 3-6 years of electrical BIM modelling experience in a consulting environment.
• Proficiency in Revit MEP, Navisworks/Solibri, AutoCAD, BIM 360/ACC, and basic Dynamo scripting.
• Solid knowledge of lighting, power, fire alarm, ELV systems, electrical layouts, and schematics.
• Familiarity with BIM standards and workflows, including LOD and ISO 19650.
• Experience managing multiple international BIM projects, preparing quantity take-offs, and supporting junior modellers.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary, global teams.
