Job summary

WSP is seeking a Principal Consultant in Acoustics to join our growing India team and collaborate with the UK Acoustics group. The role involves delivering high‑quality technical work from Noida or Bengaluru and supporting ongoing acoustics projects for the UK team.

The candidate will mentor junior staff, manage complex projects, and engage with clients to ensure timely, within‑budget delivery while upholding WSP standards.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Acoustics with UK accreditation.
• Eligibility for membership of the UK Institute of Acoustics at an appropriate level.
• Ten or more years of acoustics experience at senior consultancy level.
• Strong experience in noise modelling and acoustic assessments using British Standards and guidance documents.
• Experience reviewing deliverables, working to timescales, within budget and to expected quality.
• Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Desire to mentor and develop staff.
• Proficiency with GIS/Mapping, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Cadna, Odeon, Revit, Rhino or Sketch‑up is desirable.

The candidate will operate within a team of environmental professionals in Noida or Bengaluru, delivering high‑standard technical work and supporting the continued success of the acoustics team through client‑focused project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to UK project managers and directors, including project proposals, costings, and coordination of acoustic team members in India.
• Manage projects or associated tasks and undertake desk‑based complex specialist work on a wide range of schemes.

Key Competencies & Skills

• Relevant advanced degree or equivalent qualification in Acoustics, accredited in the UK.
• Eligibility for membership of the UK Institute of Acoustics at an appropriate level.
• Ten or more years of acoustics experience at a senior consultancy level.
• Strong experience in noise modelling and acoustic assessments using British Standards and guidance documents.
