Job summary

TO THE NEW is seeking a Bengali localization specialist to review content, create and QC Bengali subtitles, and ensure linguistic and technical accuracy across deliverables.

You'll transcribe Bengali audio, verify timing and formatting, and flag issues while adhering to client workflows and quality standards. Strong Bengali and English skills with attention to detail are essential for this role.

Qualifications

• Native or near-native Bengali with strong reading, writing and comprehension skills.
• Excellent English grammar and written communication.
• High attention to detail for linguistic, formatting, and synchronization accuracy.
• Ability to provide clear, structured quality feedback to translators and editors.
• Experience with subtitle QC, linguistic QA, and media localization workflows.

Responsibilities

• Review Bengali content to ensure compliance with client and platform S&P guidelines.
• Create, edit, and synchronize Bengali subtitles and captions with high accuracy.
• Perform QC on subtitles, captions, and localized content for linguistic and technical quality.
• Transcribe Bengali audio while preserving context, tone, and meaning.
• Verify timing, formatting, and audio-text synchronization.
• Identify and flag content not meeting quality or platform standards.
• Ensure correct Bengali grammar, spelling, punctuation, and contextual accuracy.
• Research terminology and translations to maintain consistency and quality.

• Review Bengali-language content to ensure compliance with client and platform Standards & Practices (S&P) guidelines.
• Create, edit, and synchronize Bengali subtitles and closed captions with high accuracy.
• Perform quality checks (QC) on subtitles, captions, and localized content for linguistic and technical accuracy.
• Transcribe Bengali audio content while maintaining context, tone, and meaning.
• Verify subtitle timing, formatting, and audio-text synchronization.
• Identify and flag content that does not meet quality, compliance, or platform standards.
• Ensure correct Bengali grammar, spelling, punctuation, and contextual accuracy across all deliverables.
• Research terminology, names, cultural references, and translations to maintain consistency and quality.
• Follow client-specific workflows, style guides, and quality standards.
• Meet daily productivity, quality, and turnaround time (TAT) targets.
• Collaborate with project managers and internal teams to resolve language and content-related queries.
• Communicate content, technical, or quality issues proactively and recommend corrective actions where required.
• Maintain confidentiality and accuracy while handling high volumes of digital content.

Skills & Experience

• 1+ years of experience in localization, subtitle QC, linguistic QA, language quality control, or media localization.
• Native or near-native proficiency in Bengali with excellent reading, writing, and comprehension skills.
• Strong command of English, including grammar, comprehension, and written communication.
• Experience reviewing Bengali subtitles, localized content, and dubbed audio for linguistic and technical quality.
• Strong understanding of subtitle quality control, dubbing QC, and localization workflows.
• Familiarity with subtitle formats and tools such as SRT, STL, and other industry-standard subtitling software.
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify linguistic, contextual, formatting, and synchronization errors.
• Knowledge of client-specific style guides, glossaries, terminology, and OTT/broadcast quality standards.
• Ability to provide clear, structured, and actionable quality feedback to translators, editors, and dubbing teams.
