Job summary

Prismforce in Bengaluru is seeking a Backend Engineer to own the design and evolution of a high-volume transactional backend. You will partner with engineering leadership to refactor legacy systems into modular, robust services using Node.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, MongoDB and AWS.

You will handle end-to-end feature ownership, build scalable APIs, and balance synchronous low-latency processing with asynchronous queues. A proactive, systems-minded approach and willingness to learn Go are valued.

Qualifications

• 3 years of backend engineering experience with refactoring legacy apps.
• Proficient in Node.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, MongoDB and AWS.
• Experience designing low-latency, scalable backend systems with asynchronous processing.

About the Role

We are looking for a highly motivated, self-driven Backend Engineer to own the design, implementation, and evolution of our high-volume transactional backend. A core focus of this role will be partnering with engineering leadership to refactor and rewrite our existing legacy systems in a clean, highly robust, and testable manner. You won't just be picking up tickets; you will be an active architectural partner responsible for building scalable foundations.

If you are a systems-minded engineer who loves cleaning up complex code, building resilient synchronous and asynchronous processing flows, and designing next-generation Agentic AI solutions, this role is built for you.

What You'll Do

• System Evolution & Rewrites: Critically analyze existing backend infrastructure, isolate performance bottlenecks or fragile points, and execute clean, zero-downtime system rewrites.
• End-to-End Feature Ownership: Design, build, test, and deploy highly scalable backend services and robust APIs using Node.js and TypeScript.
• Rapid Prototyping: Move quickly from proof-of-concept (POC) to production-grade MVP for new features without sacrificing clean code architecture and long-term integrity.
• High-Throughput Architecture: Develop and optimize high-volume transactional systems, balancing synchronous request-response lifecycles (low-latency APIs) with message queues and background workers for asynchronous, resilient processing.
• AI Innovation: Design and implement Agentic AI solutions, integrating LLMs and complex workflow state-machines into our core application logic.
• Data & Cloud Management: Work heavily with PostgreSQL and MongoDB (writing optimized queries, implementing clean data migration patterns) and deploy native services inside AWS cloud infrastructure.

What We're Looking For

• Experience: ~3 years of professional backend engineering experience, preferably with exposure to refactoring monolithic or legacy applications into modular services.
• Core Technical Stack: Deep proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript, relational databases (PostgreSQL), NoSQL databases (MongoDB), and cloud infrastructure (AWS).
• Systems Architecture: Solid understanding of handling low-latency synchronous operations alongside asynchronous execution patterns, queue management systems (e.g., SQS, RabbitMQ), and data integrity patterns under heavy transaction loads.
• Product Mindset: A proactive thinker. You do not blindly deliver what is requested; you dive deep into the _why_, thinking critically about future scalability and long-term product health.
• Nice to Have: Hands-on experience or a strong willingness to learn Go (Golang); exposure to building or leveraging AI agents and integrating modern AI tools/frameworks.
