Igloo is seeking a Backend Engineer to tackle complex engineering challenges, shaping the architecture of our platform for global expansion and AI-enabled features.

You will collaborate across teams to define standards, optimize development workflows, and build robust backend infrastructure that scales, remains secure, and performs at high levels.

Qualifications

• Bachelors in Computer Science or related field.
• 5+ years of backend experience.
• Experience with AWS, RESTful/RPC services, and C++/Java/Golang.
• Experience with NoSQL and relational databases.
• Familiar with Docker and CI/CD on AWS or GCP.

Responsabilités

• Collaborate with Engineers, PMs, Data Scientists and Designers to define and implement features.
• Work with DevOps to build frameworks, define API standards, and improve CI/CD and code hygiene.
• Tackle complex engineering problems to improve scalability, security, and reliability of the platform.
• Hands-on programming and architecture design with willingness to learn new technologies quickly.

About the role

We are looking for a Backend Engineer to solve complex engineering challenges and drive the evolution of our platform’s architecture. In this role, you will be a key contributor to the scalability, security, and reliability of our systems, bridging the gap between high-level product requirements and high-performance execution. You will collaborate across teams to define technical standards, optimize development efficiency, and build the robust backend infrastructure needed to support our global expansion and AI-enhanced features.

Job Responsibilities

• Work closely with fellow Engineers, Product Managers, Data Scientists and Designers to define, refine and implement features on the product line;
• Work closely with DevOps to build frameworks and tools, define standards (e.g., API contract) and improve overall efficiency of the development (e.g., CI/CD) and hygiene of the codebase (i.e., Git);
• Work on complex engineering problems to improve the scalability, security, and reliability of our platform;
• Have hands-on programming and architecture design skills with demonstrated willingness and capability to learn new technologies quickly

• Bachelors in Computer Science or other related Degrees.
• Min. 5 years of experience in similar roles. Experience in tech start-up is a plus.
• Experience with AWS, RESTful/RPC services, C++/Java/Golang and related system programming languages. Having experience of Golang is a plus.
• Experience with NoSQL (e.g., Redis/MongoDB), message queue (e.g., Kafka/Kinesis), and relational databases (e.g., MySQL).
• Experience with Docker, basic CI/CD flow on AWS or GCP.
• Familiarity with using AI tools in the development process and building the backend systems needed to support AI functionality
• Strong understanding of system performance and scaling, Demonstrated ability to design, build, and deliver complex, successful web services and/or customer experiences efficiently and with quality.
