Job summary

Rigbot is seeking a self-motivated backend developer to build features for a new product using Node.js, JavaScript, and PostgreSQL. You will integrate with APIs, develop algorithms, and deliver prototypes under tight deadlines while refactoring legacy code.

You will provide production support for US customers, perform testing, and mentor junior developers. Experience with RESTful services, Koa/Express, ORM (Bookshelf/Sequelize), and Git is required.

Qualifications

• Experience with backend server-side technologies, especially Node.js and PostgreSQL.
• Proficient in writing custom SQL queries for PostgreSQL with PostGIS.
• Knowledge of RESTful services, Git version control, and Linux/macOS environments.

Job description

This position involves developing a full featured product and its features for the release using some of the best in class /cutting-edge technologies. The developer should be capable of rapidly developing, releasing prototypes while refactoring and fixing/maintaining older code, adhering to strict deadlines. Features development will include integrating with other products via APIs, developing newer algorithms to improve efficiency, adding new reports and metrics to meet customer needs and working with our mapping partners to bring innovative offerings to our customers.

The role will also involve trouble shooting or bug fixing existing code, providing production support to US based customer base. Experience in setting up similar structures and agile software development methodologies with continuous integration/deployment practices is a must.

Looking for a self motivated, creative problem solver and self driven developer, with good experience working on Backend server side technologies mainly on Node JS, Javascript, development using PostgreSQL Database.

Role & responsibilities

• Understand customer requirements and translate to application feature
• Collaborate with the team to set specifications for new features
• Design prototypes according to specifications
• Write high quality code and meet deadlines
• Perform unit and integration testing before launch
• Conduct functional and non-functional testing
• Troubleshoot, debug applications and provide production support
• Evaluate existing code to refactor, update and add new feature updates
• Develop technical documents and handbooks
• Mentor and coach junior developers
• Utilize Jira to track, monitor and communicate development/bug fix progress

Preferred candidate profile

• Good working experience in open source technologies especially in Node JS , JavaScript, and PostgreSQL DB
• Strong back-end experience, writing custom SQL queries for PostgreSql DB with PostGIS
• Candidate should be fairly proficient working in the Linux environment / Mac OS.
• Web framework Koa2: The next generation Express framework, Knowledge of Koa or Express is required.
• ORM: Bookshelf or Sequelize experience needed
• Good understanding of RESTful Services and development experience in RESTful APIs.
• Good working knowledge on Git for version control

Nice to have skills:

• TDD or BDD with Jasmine or equivalent
• Experience with Rest API, Swagger, and API Managers
• Experience with AWS offerings including Lambda, API Gateway, Kinesis, S3, SNS, SQS, IOT
• Exposure to AWS EKS based Kubernetes deployment using Helm charts and Terraform.
