Job summary

Sonata Software hires a Backend Developer (Go) in Pune. You will design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and microservices using Go, with a focus on concurrency, reliability, and API-first thinking.

You will build REST APIs and distributed systems, work with cloud-native data stores, implement caching, and ensure observability and production readiness while leveraging AI-assisted tools to speed up development and testing.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of software development experience with Go (Golang).
• Strong knowledge of Go concepts: concurrency, goroutines, channels, interfaces, context handling.
• Experience building REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Experience with NoSQL databases, automated testing, Git, CI/CD, observability, and production troubleshooting.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and microservices using Go (Golang), including APIs and inter-service communication.

Build data-driven services using cloud-native databases and distributed data stores.

Develop resilient distributed workflows and background processing using workflow orchestration platforms.

Implement caching and high-performance data-access patterns for scalable backend applications.

Integrate backend services with APIs, real-time messaging platforms, and distributed-system components.

Build automated unit, integration, and API tests, and contribute to reliability, observability, security, and production troubleshooting.

Use AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude, and GitHub Copilot to accelerate development, testing, debugging, and code reviews.

Participate in technical design, code reviews, and continuous improvement of backend engineering practices.

Qualifications & Required Skills:

5–8 years of software development experience with strong hands-on expertise in Go (Golang).

Strong knowledge of Go concepts, including concurrency, goroutines, channels, interfaces, context handling, and idiomatic Go development.

Experience building REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.

Understanding of error handling, retries, idempotency, timeouts, and asynchronous processing.

Experience working with NoSQL databases, automated testing, Git, CI/CD, observability, API security, and production troubleshooting.

Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Mandatory Skills: Go (Golang) & Microservices | REST APIs & Distributed Systems | AI-Assisted Development Tools (Cursor, Claude, GitHub Copilot)

Good to Have Skills:

Experience with GCP Firestore, MongoDB Atlas, Elastic Cloud/Elasticsearch, Redis, or Valkey.

Experience with Temporal or similar workflow orchestration platforms.

Knowledge of Centrifugo, WebSockets, gRPC, Protocol Buffers, or OpenAPI/Swagger.

Experience modernizing or integrating with legacy Python services.

Experience developing AI-enabled capabilities or integrating AI/ML models, LLMs, or AI services into production products.

Experience working with large-scale SaaS or cloud-native distributed systems.
