Job summary

BDO India is seeking an experienced backend engineer to design and implement scalable FastAPI microservices for AI-driven capabilities. You will build robust APIs, integrate with SharePoint, ERP and databases, and design data schemas with PostgreSQL and MongoDB. Strong Python, API design, and authentication/authorization skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 3–7 years of backend experience.
• Strong experience building REST APIs with FastAPI.
• Proficient in SQL and database design.

Responsibilities

• Build FastAPI microservices exposing RAG, agent and ML capabilities as REST endpoints.
• Develop tool APIs for AI agents — search, retrieve, create, update or integrate with external systems.
• Integrate with enterprise systems — SharePoint, document management, ERP, databases.
• Design and manage database schemas (PostgreSQL, MongoDB) for AI features.
• Implement authentication and authorization for AI services.
• Handle asynchronous patterns — background tasks, queues, high-throughput API serving.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Build FastAPI microservices that expose RAG, agent and ML capabilities as REST endpoints
• Build tool APIs used by AI agents — functions that search, retrieve, create, update or integrate with external systems
• – Integrate with enterprise systems — SharePoint, document management systems, ERP, databases
• – Design and manage database schemas (PostgreSQL, MongoDB) for AI product features
• – Implement authentication and authorisation for AI services
• – Handle async patterns — background tasks, queuing, high-throughput API serving

REQUIRED SKILLSx

• – Python — production-quality. Code is structured, tested, handles exceptions.
• – FastAPI — has built and shipped REST APIs. Understands request lifecycle, validation, middleware, error responses.
• – SQL — writes complex queries confidently. Understands indexing, transactions, query performance.
• – Git and Docker — standard workflow, containerised services.
• – LLM API consumption — can call OpenAI or Anthropic APIs, handle streaming and manage token limits. Does not need to design AI systems, needs to integrate them.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS (increase placement level)
