The role. The goal.

We’re looking for someone to build the back-end of our web and mobile applications, shape system architecture, and support front-end development.

What you’ll be doing and learning

• Build software with the end user’s experience as a priority
• Design for scalability, maintainability, and extensibility
• Collaborate with design, growth, and product teams to execute the roadmap
• Own code through its lifecycle from design to deployment
• Shape back-end architecture and middleware services
• Apply AI tools and cloud services to improve stability and quality
• Optimize Pilot’s web platform for developers and partners
• Lead projects in an agile-like process, including scoping, research, coding, testing, reviews, and support

Ideal candidate

Core Technical Skills

• 4+ years of web application development
• Proficiency with ES6+, web standards, and modern technologies
• Backend focus with full-stack capability
• Strong portfolio of products (not services)
• Ability to decompose complex problems
• Balance detail orientation with speed
• End-to-end system architecture capability
• Proficiency with Node.js, MongoDB and GraphQL
• 3+ years of production experience with React and TypeScript
• Experience with database design, optimization, and real-time data systems
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform or similar (AWS, Azure)
• Frontend and mobile development and deployment experience

AI & Emerging Tech

• Experience using AI tools to accelerate development and debugging
• Practical knowledge of LLMs; ability to innovate on top of models
• Accountability for quality and reliability of AI code

• Strong UX understanding when interpreting specs and delivering precision
