Role & responsibilities

Role Overview

The Senior Azure Automation Engineer will design, build, and own the automation solutions that reduce manual effort

across CubeLogic's CloudOps function spanning Azure infrastructure provisioning, identity and access lifecycle

management, patching, compliance reporting, and client environment operations. The role owns the automation

architecture and toolset end-to-end, running and monitoring pipelines, Management of Container Apps, mentors junior

automation engineers, and partners closely with Cloud Engineers, and Architects to industrialise repeatable operational

workflows.

Key Responsibilities

Automation Architecture & Development

• Design and build end-to-end automation solutions from Azure Infra setup to application deployment and

configuration.

• Maintenance of Containerized apps, App Jobs and Monitoring
• Automate recurring CloudOps activities — Azure Infra Custom Request, Operational manual request Automation,

patching, compliance checks, reporting, and client onboarding

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and automation code deployment
• Package automation into reusable, well-documented modules, scripts, and runbooks

Azure Infrastructure & Cloud Operations

• Administer and automate Azure services — VMs, networking, storage, IAM/Entra ID — across client subscriptions
• Support Azure infrastructure provisioning and configuration for new client environments
• Deploy and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (ARM templates, Bicep, or Terraform) for repeatable environment builds
• Monitor automated jobs and pipelines, troubleshooting failures and performance issues

Security & Compliance Automation

• Automate patch compliance, antivirus compliance, firewall backup, and access review reporting
• Support SOC2/ISMS/NIS2 audit evidence collection through automated data pulls and reports
• Apply secure coding and credential-handling practices (e.g. Key Vault integration) within automation scripts

DevOps & Tooling

• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps or similar) for automation and infrastructure code
• Manage source control, versioning, and release processes for automation scripts and modules
• Evaluate and integrate monitoring/alerting tools into automated operational workflows

Team Leadership & Mentorship

• Mentor and provide technical guidance to Azure Automation Engineers and junior CloudOps staff
• Review automation code and scripts for quality, security, and maintainability
• Document automation architecture, runbooks, and support procedures for team-wide use

Skills Matrix

MANDATORY GOOD TO HAVE

• Advanced PowerShell scripting (functions, modules,

error handling) for provisioning/automation

• Hands-on Azure administration — VMs, networking,

storage, IAM/Entra ID (AZ-104 certified), Microsoft

Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert (AZ-400)

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert

(AZ-305) — desirable
