Job summary

Cloudxtreme in Chennai is seeking a DevOps engineer to join the DevOps and Tooling team. You will help build automated processes and improve the delivery of web and mobile applications through CI/CD, containerization, and system integration.

The role collaborates with offshore development teams and supports various stacks, including GitLab pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform, to optimize build and deployment workflows.

Qualifications

• Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, OO design and networking fundamentals.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD, pipelines, build runners and caching strategies.
• Experience with Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm and Artifactory in cloud environments.
• Experience with Unix-based scripting and cloud services (AWS preferred).
• Experience with Agile development and containerized architectures.

Responsibilities

• Apply knowledge of GitLab pipelines, Docker, NodeJS, build automation, and Kubernetes to improve DevOps tooling.
• Work with onshore and offshore teams to troubleshoot CI/CD issues and implement improvements.
• Design, implement, monitor, and troubleshoot systems and automated workflows.
• Review designs and merge requests to ensure production readiness and quality.

Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION

This role will join the DevOps and Tooling team that builds moderate to complex applications, tools, and processes that improve the efficiency of the web and mobile application development teams, including but not limited to working on a variety of technologies, languages, and concepts related to speeding up the development and delivery of our web and mobile applications through automation, CI/CD, containerization, contract-driven development, build optimization, system integration (such as issue tracking, source code repositories, delivery environments, etc.), monitoring and alerting, etc. This role will work closely with the onshore DevOps and Tooling team members to support offshore development teams on issues faced with GitLab pipelines, CI/CD troubleshooting and suggesting workarounds. This position will work closely with the development teams as their main customer, while collaborating with other cross-functional teams (Cluster Management, Product Enablement Team, etc.).

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Apply existing knowledge, while proactively and independently acquiring new knowledge, of emerging development technologies and techniques in areas such as GitLab Pipelines, Docker, NodeJS, build automation, Kubernetes, and CI/CD open-source tooling, mobile devops
• Strong experience and understanding of Gitlab, repository configuration, security and code merge process
• Work closely with the development teams to understand issues faced
• Work with the onshore DevOps team to raise issues that need resolution through improvements and potential new implementations
• Diagnose complex issues, evaluate, recommend the best resolution
• Learn and acquire full understanding of new implementations through working closely with onshore DevOps team members
• Influence system design by identifying and recommending design and requirements needs for software enhancements
• Test software to ensure proper and efficient execution and adherence to business and technical requirements
• Write code that meets the production requirements and design specifications
• Ensure code is tested, documented and unit tested
• Participate in design and merge request review to provide a technical perspective on implementation
• Ensure alignment between the business operational strategies and technical solutions
• Design, implement, monitor, enhance, and troubleshoot systems

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, OO Design, and networking fundamentals
• Good understanding of full-stack development and mobile application development
• In-depth understanding of CI/CD processes, including pipelines, build runners and caching strategies
• Experience with S3 bucket management and implementation using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
• Experience with shell-based systems and scripting (e.g., Bash and Node) Docker and Helm Chart experience, with bonus points for Kubernetes cluster management experience using Rancher as the container orchestration system General Cloud Environments experience
• Experience with configuration management tools, preferably Terraform
• Knowledge of iOS development environment and tool stack
• Understanding of Software Quality practices, test execution through CI/CD, basic UI automation processes and best practices
• Knowledge in artifact management such as JFrog Artifactory.
• Experience working in an Agile development environment
• Experience with containerized architectures and systems
