Job summary

MCO (MyComplianceOffice) is seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Platform Engineer to own and evolve a secure, scalable AWS environment. The role combines day-to-day operations with platform improvements across IAM, networking, security and cost control.

You will review architecture, enforce governance, automate infrastructure with Terraform, CloudFormation or AWS CDK, and collaborate with security, DBA and engineering teams to raise the overall AWS capability.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years of experience in production AWS environments.
• Hands-on experience managing production environments in AWS.
• Experience reviewing and improving existing AWS environments.
• Strong knowledge of AWS IAM, Organizations, account management, networking, security, and logging.
• Experience with EC2, VPC, Route 53, load balancing, S3, and managed databases or container services.
• IaC: Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK.
• Experience with monitoring, incident response, backup, recovery, patching, and vulnerability management.
• Strong Linux, networking and production troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and balance operations with longer-term improvements.
• Experience supporting SaaS or regulated environments is desirable.
• Relevant AWS certifications preferred (Solutions Architect, Security or CloudOps).

Responsibilities

• Take technical ownership of the AWS environment supporting the product.
• Review the existing AWS architecture, accounts, networking, security controls, policies and access arrangements.
• Identify operational, security, resilience and cost risks, and maintain a prioritised improvement plan.
• Establish appropriate AWS governance, including role-based access, least privilege, account separation and audit controls.
• Provide hands-on support for day-to-day AWS operations, incidents, changes and technical problems.
• Improve monitoring, alerting, backup, recovery and disaster-recovery arrangements.
• Manage infrastructure through code using Terraform, CloudFormation, AWS CDK or similar tools.
• Reduce manual activity by introducing repeatable automation and controlled change processes.
• Create and maintain architecture documentation, operational procedures and support runbooks.
• Work closely with Infrastructure Operations, Production Support, Platform Monitoring, DBA, Engineering and Information Security.
• Transfer knowledge and develop AWS capability across the Infrastructure Operations team.
• Define the longer-term technical direction and standards for AWS within Platform Operations.

As MCO continues to expand its AWS footprint, we are looking for an experienced, hands-on AWS Cloud Platform Engineer to help build and maintain a secure, reliable and well-managed cloud environment.

The role will sit within the Infrastructure Operations team and combine day-to-day operational support with longer-term platform improvements. The successful candidate will review the AWS architecture, access model, policies and operational processes, address identified risks and help define the future direction of the platform.

This role will work closely with Production Support, Platform Monitoring, DBA, Engineering and Information Security. It will also be responsible for improving documentation, sharing knowledge and developing AWS capability across the wider Infrastructure Operations team.

Job Requirements

• Minimum 7 to 10 years of experience required.
• Strong hands-on experience managing production environments in AWS.
• Experience reviewing, inheriting and improving an existing AWS environment.
• Good knowledge of AWS IAM, AWS Organizations, account management, networking, security and logging.
• Experience with core AWS services such as EC2, VPC, Route 53, load balancing, S3 and managed database or container services.
• Practical Infrastructure as Code experience using Terraform, CloudFormation or AWS CDK.
• Experience with monitoring, incident response, backup, recovery, patching and vulnerability management.
• Strong Linux, networking and production troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to identify technical risks and turn them into practical improvement plans.
• Good documentation and communication skills.

• Experience supporting SaaS products or regulated environments is desirable.
