Job summary

VMC Soft Technologies, Inc. in Chennai is seeking an AWS Disaster Recovery Specialist with 8-10 years of IT experience to design and implement DR for mission-critical workloads. You will build automation using Terraform, CloudFormation, and CDK, run DR drills, optimize costs, and document runbooks.

This role collaborates with security and infrastructure teams to enhance resilience. The candidate should have strong scripting and troubleshooting skills and experience across multi-region AWS

Qualifications

• 5+ years in cloud or infrastructure engineering with ≥3 years on AWS.
• Hands-on with EC2, RDS, S3, Route 53, IAM, VPC, CloudFront/Global Accelerator.
• Experience executing DR and BC plans in AWS.
• Automation experience and scripting in Python or Bash.
• HA architectures, multi-region design, cross-region replication.
• Strong debugging and under-pressure performance.
• Excellent communication and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Develop automation frameworks and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions using tools such as Terraform| CloudFormation| CDK| or similar.


• Build end-to-end automated failover and recovery workflows to meet RTO/RPO objectives.


• Conduct regular DR drills| simulations| and failover tests to validate recovery procedures.


• Monitor| optimize| and enhance cloud architecture for resilience| scalability| and cost efficiency.


• Collaborate with application| infrastructure| and security teams to ensure DR readiness across all environments.


• Document DR strategies| recovery runbooks| and architecture diagrams.


• Assist in root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.


• Evaluate new AWS services and technologies to continuously improve DR posture.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering or infrastructure engineering| with at least 3 years focused on AWS.


• Strong expertise with AWS services such as EC2| RDS| S3| Route 53| CloudFormation| Lambda| CloudWatch| IAM| VPC| and Global Accelerator/CloudFront.


• Executing disaster recovery and business continuity plans in AWS environments.


• Hands-on experience with automation.


• Solid understanding of high-availability architectures| multi-region design| and cross-region replication.


• Strong scripting experience (Python| Bash| or similar).


• Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to perform under pressure during critical incidents.


• Strong communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional or AWS DevOps Engineer Professional.


• Experience with container platforms (ECS| EKS| Docker).


• Background in security best practices related to AWS DR and automation.


• Experience with large-scale enterprise DR programs.
