Axis Bank’s Strategy team in Mumbai is seeking an experienced professional to support the formulation and execution of long-term objectives. You will lead strategic projects, assess industry trends, and partner with business units to drive growth and performance improvements.

The role offers exposure to enterprise-wide initiatives, annual planning, and cross-functional leadership interactions with senior leadership. A background in corporate strategy and wholesale banking is preferred.

Qualifications

• MBA (or equivalent) with specialization in Strategy, Finance or General Management.
• 5-8 years of experience in corporate strategy, management consulting or financial services.
• Exposure to Wholesale Banking, Corporate Banking or related businesses preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support formulation and execution of Bank's long-term objectives.
• Lead consulting-style strategic projects involving problem structuring, hypothesis development, data analysis, insight generation and implementation planning.

About the team

The Strategy team plays a central role in shaping the Bank's medium and long-term direction. The team partners with senior leadership to define strategic priorities, drive annual planning, assess market and competitive developments, identify growth opportunities, and lead high-impact enterprise-wide initiatives. The team's work spans strategy formulation, business performance reviews, transformation programs, and execution of key strategic priorities across the Bank.

About the role

The candidate will be a part of the Strategy team (Wholesale Banking) and will work closely with business, product and functional leaders to support strategic decision-making and execution of key priorities.

While the role will be aligned to the Wholesale Banking Strategy vertical, the nature of the team's mandate provides significant exposure to Bank-wide strategic initiatives, enterprise transformation programs, annual planning exercises, and cross-functional priorities involving multiple businesses and corporate functions. The role offers extensive interaction with senior leadership and provides an opportunity to influence strategic outcomes at both the business and enterprise level.

Key responsibilities

• Support formulation and execution of Bank's long-term objectives
• Lead consulting-style strategic projects involving problem structuring, hypothesis development, data analysis, insight generation and implementation planning
• Assess industry trends, competitive dynamics, regulatory developments and emerging opportunities to support leadership decision-making
• Partner with business teams to identify growth opportunities, improve business performance and solve complex strategic challenges
• Drive annual planning, strategic reviews, performance assessments and leadership presentations
• Develop business cases and recommendations backed by rigorous quantitative and qualitative analysis
• Track execution of strategic initiatives through structured governance and stakeholder engagement

Qualifications

• MBA (or equivalent postgraduate qualification) from a premier institution with specialization in Strategy, Finance or General Management
• 5-8 years of experience in corporate strategy, management consulting or financial services would be preferred
• Prior experience in Banking / BFSI, preferably with exposure to Wholesale Banking, Corporate Banking or related businesses, would again be preferred

Role proficiencies
