Job summary

Cytiva is seeking an Automation Engineer II for its Custom Engineering team in Pune, India. The role focuses on designing, configuring, testing, and commissioning automation solutions for bioprocess systems, integrating UNICORN with Rockwell PLCs and Siemens platforms, in compliance with GAMP 5 and 21 CFR Part 11.

The ideal candidate has a BE in Instrumentation/Electrical/CS and 6+ years in automation, with biopharma experience and readiness to travel up to 25% for project follow-ups and site

• BE Instrumentation/Electrical/ETB/Computer Science or equivalent.
• Minimum 6+ years post-qualification experience in Automation or similar position.
• Experience in biopharmaceutical manufacturing equipment and commissioning support.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% of time for project follow up, inspection, SAT, troubleshooting at customer site.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, configure, test, and commission automation solutions for Cytiva bioprocess systems integrating UNICORN with Rockwell PLC hardware.
• Write/analyze technical proposals and costing; support product life cycle management.
• Perform PLC/DCS/SCADA Automation Software testing, debug and optimize code, and document the testing process.
• Provide user training and produce Rockwell/UNICORN documentation sets.

The Automation Engineer II is part of the Custom Engineering organization located in Pune and will be an on-site role. At Cytiva, our vision is, to advance future therapeutics from discovery to delivery.

What you’ll do

Understand customer requirements, P&IDs, URS, required international standards compliances and accordingly Design, develop, configure, test, and commission automation solutions for Cytiva bioprocess systems (chromatography, filtration, TFF, single-use mixers etc.) that combine UNICORN system control software with Rockwell Automation PLC hardware and programming environments, in compliance with GAMP 5, 21 CFR Part 11, and S88 standards. Have ability or readiness to learn to write/analyze technical proposals and costing. Utilize Instrumentation and automation detailed design engineering, Instrument Configuration and Calibration, prepare project schedules, loop diagrams, Instrument Index, cable schedules, Instrument Hookup drawings, Automation architecture, component selection, Control panel specifications, IO List preparation, Wiring Drawing verification, GA verification, etc. Collaborate cross-functionally with suppliers, end users, project managers and other engineers to achieve elegant solutions. Perform testing, commissioning, and complete execution of all Instrumentation and Automation components in their project meeting or exceeding customer expectations. Providing training to users. Perform UNICORN (Cytiva product) Configuration & Method Development; Rockwell PLC Development, Produce the Rockwell/UNICORN documentation set. Perform PLC/DCS/SCADA Automation Software testing, be able to debug and optimize code, write efficient coding as per best practices and have very good hand-on experience on Siemens platform. Should know about GAMP 5 and ERES compliance requirements. Should support product life cycle management and understand product obsolescence. Well versed with ISA and IEC standards, wiring rules and other standards. Should be a good problem Solver.

Who you are

BE Instrumentation/Electrical/E TB/Computer Science or equivalent. A higher degree or secondary degree in a related subject would be an advantage. Experience of project engineering / project management of equipment used in Biopharmaceutical manufacturing with relevant experience and knowledge to perform commissioning support on a filtration, separation, and purification system/equipment in the biopharmaceutical industry. A minimum of 6+ years post qualification experience in Automation or similar position. Experience within the biopharmaceutical market is added advantage. Factory test work and/or site work experience.

Travel Requirements: Willing to travel up to 25% of time for project follow up, inspection, SAT, troubleshooting at customer site.
