Job summary

PharmNXT Biotech in India is seeking an Automation Engineer with hands-on experience in Siemens PLC, SCADA, and industrial automation. You will develop, program, debug, and troubleshoot PLC applications using S7-1200 and S7-1500 with TIA Portal, ensuring compliant manufacturing environments.

The role spans configuration of WinCC SCADA, alarming, trends, batch reporting, and audit trails, plus FAT/IQ/OQ/PQ activities, system validation, and on-site commissioning across GMP facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in instrumentation, electrical, electronics or automation engineering.
• 3–7 years of experience in pharmaceutical or regulated manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of PLC, SCADA, CSV and validation lifecycle.
• Hands-on experience with Siemens automation platforms and SCADA systems.
• Good understanding of pharma documentation practices, SOPs, and change management.

Responsibilities

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled Automation Engineer with hands‑on experience in Siemens PLC, SCADA, and industrial automation systems. The candidate should have strong exposure to Siemens PLCs, SCADA configuration, system validation, and on‑site commissioning activities in regulated industrial environments.

The Automation Engineer will be responsible for developing, programming, debugging, and troubleshooting PLC applications using Siemens PLC platforms (S7-1200 and S7-1500) with TIA Portal.

Responsibilities

• Develop, configure, and maintain SCADA systems using WinCC, including graphics, alarms, trends, batch reports, and audit trail functionalities.
• Handle Siemens automation products such as PLCs (S7-1200, S7-1500), HMIs, Industrial PCs (IPC 39A, IPC 427E), SCADA, WinCC, batch reporting, and audit trail systems.
• Implement user management, role‑based access control, and data integrity features in PLC and SCADA systems.
• Design, review, and supervise control panel wiring, field wiring, and I/O allocation.
• Inspect control panel fabrication, conduct panel testing, loop checking, and support commissioning activities.
• Calibrate, integrate, and test process instruments such as pressure, temperature, level, and flow transmitters with PLC/SCADA systems.
• Design, configure, and maintain industrial communication networks including Profibus, Profinet, and Modbus TCP/IP.
• Execute, document, and support FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ, and PQ activities as per project and regulatory requirements.
• Perform system validation, qualification, and root‑cause troubleshooting.
• Coordinate with cross‑functional teams such as process, electrical, quality, and IT for automation integration.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, safety, and quality standards (GMP, data integrity, and safety norms).
• Ensure compliance with GMP, GAMP 5, 21 CFR Part 11, and data integrity (ALCOA+) principles.
• Implement and validate audit trail functionality, electronic records, electronic signatures, and secure data storage.
• Support regulatory audits and inspections by providing validation evidence and system documentation.
• Design alarm management strategies as per pharma best practices (alarm prioritization, acknowledgment, and history).
• Ensure reliable batch reporting, historical data logging, and traceability for critical process parameters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics, or Automation Engineering.
• 3 – 7 years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical or regulated manufacturing environments.
• Strong knowledge of PLC, SCADA, CSV, and validation lifecycle activities.
• Hands‑on experience with Siemens automation platforms and SCADA systems.
• Good understanding of pharma documentation practices, SOPs, and change management.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites and manufacturing plants.
