Job summary

ABB is seeking an Automation Engineer to support engineering activities across project sizes, under supervision of senior engineers. The role focuses on developing applications, testing, installation, commissioning, and diagnostics to ensure quality and compliance.

You will translate designs into documentation, assist in proposals, and maintain strong customer communication throughout the project lifecycle. The position is onsite in Faridabad, India, with travel as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical / Instrumentation / Automation).
• 1–3 years of application development and support experience.
• Strong knowledge of industrial automation systems: PLCs, motors, drives, motion control, robotics.

Responsibilities

• Plan, monitor, and execute application development tasks for projects of varying sizes.
• Provide technical support for testing, installation, commissioning, debugging, and diagnostics.
• Translate conceptual designs into detailed engineering documentation and calculations.

Each day, you will complete the tasks cost-effectively and in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and cybersecurity policies and standards. Main stakeholders include Customers, Application Engineering Team, Project Management Team, Testing & Commissioning Team, and Product Development Team.You will be mainly accountable for:Planning, monitoring, and executing application development tasks, including new product development, incremental modifications, and timely closure of assigned work.Providing technical support for testing, installation, commissioning, debugging, and diagnostics activities.Translating conceptual designs into detailed engineering documentation through modelling, prototyping, simulation, and calculations, while applying design thinking and best practices.Assisting in preparing engineering proposals and presentations and maintaining effective communication with customers and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.Identifying and managing project risks/issues, ensuring compliance with organizational standards, and promoting teamwork, continuous improvement, and customer satisfactionQualifications for the role:Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical / Instrumentation / Automation or related discipline).Minimum 1-3 years of application development and support experience.Well-developed understanding of Industrial Automation systems like PLCs, motors, drives, motion control and robotic systemsDemonstrable experience in building strong and enduring customer relationships within highly dynamic and competitive marketsGood communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a global environment.Willing to travel for site support and commissioning as required.More about us:B&R Industrial Automation is a manufacturer of automation technology and ABB's global center for machine and factory automation.
