Job summary

Larsen & Toubro in Chennai seeks a qualified Civil/Structures engineer to review and carry out structural designs, calculate notes, and prepare shop drawings based on GFC issued by the client.

You will perform sub-surface analyses for diaphragm walls, cut-and-cover stations, and underground structures; assist in DBR preparation; coordinate interfaces across TBM alignments and MEP utilities; attend site visits and weekly design meetings, and manage client technical communications.

Qualifications

• Experience in reviewing and carrying out structural designs with GFC deliverables.
• Ability to perform sub-surface analyses for diaphragm walls and deep excavation supports.
• Assist in compiling DBRs, data sheets and variation claims for projects.
• Coordinate interface layouts across TBM alignments and underground MEP utilities.
• Conduct site visits to address design deviations and maintain site records.
• Participate in weekly design and progress meetings and support client technical queries.

Responsibilities

• Review and prepare structural designs, calculation notes and shop drawings as per GFC.
• Check subterranean structure designs including D-walls and top/bottom slabs.
• Support DBR work with technical data sheets and variation claims.
• Coordinate interfaces across cross-functional disciplines and TBM alignments.
• Conduct site trouble-shooting visits and document settlements and diaries.
• Engage in client communications, including handling technical queries and approvals.

Qualification : B.Tech(CIVIL) / M.Tech (Structures)

• Control design review : Review and carry out structural designs ,detailed calculation notes and preparation of shop drawings based on good for construction (GFC)issued by client.
• Sub-surface structure analysis : check design s for subterranean infrastructure including diaphragm walls(D-walls),deep excavation support systems , cut-and-cover underground stations, top/bottom slabs ,u-ramps and ventilation shafts
• Design basis report (DBR) assistance : assist the structural design expert and team leader in compiling project-specific DBRs, technical data sheets and variation claims
• Interface management : coordination spatial layout and load constraints across cross - functional disciplines including tunnel boring machine (TBM) alignments and underground MEP utilities
• Site trouble-shooting: conduct mandatory visits to deep underground construction site to address design deviations , check settlement data and maintain technical site diaries
• Weekly design & progress meetings : participate in weekly meetings with client presenting design status technical queries and progress updates
• Client communication : manages client-related technical communications including handlings TQ(technical queries) and approvals from consultant

• Superstructure structural software : mastery over advance numerical solvers such as MIDAS civil, STAAD. Pro and ETABs
• Building information modelling : familiarity with checking structural conflict matrices via AutoCAD and revit BIM environments
• Code compliance : in-depth knowledge of standard indian railways standards (IRS), indian road congress (IRC) codes bureau of india standards (BIS) and international Eurocodes for concrete sub - surface designs
