Job summary

Geo-Chem India is seeking a Lab Manager to oversee the Building Material Testing Laboratory in Mulund (Mumbai). You will supervise staff, ensure testing of cement, concrete, steel, aggregates, bricks, blocks, soil and related materials, and maintain QA/QC procedures to deliver accurate results on schedule.

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• Master's in Civil Engineering or Materials Engineering is preferred.
• Minimum 6 years in building material testing labs with at least 3 years in a managerial role.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the Building Material Testing Laboratory.
• Ensure testing of cement, concrete, steel, aggregates, bricks, blocks, soil and other construction materials as per standards.

Position is responsible for overseeing laboratory testing activities for construction and building materials, ensuring compliance with relevant standards, maintaining quality systems, managing laboratory staff, and delivering accurate test results within specified timelines.

Job Descriptions

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the Building Material Testing Laboratory.
• Ensure testing of materials such as cement, concrete, steel, aggregates, bricks, blocks, soil, and other construction materials as per applicable standards.
• Monitor laboratory quality control procedures and maintain testing accuracy.
• Review and approve test reports before issuance.
• Ensure calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
• Coordinate with clients, project teams, consultants, and regulatory authorities.
• Develop and implement laboratory procedures and quality management systems.
• Train, supervise, and evaluate laboratory engineers and technicians.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental regulations.
• Investigate testing issues and implement corrective actions.
• Prepare monthly reports on testing activities, laboratory performance, and resource utilization.
• Support audits, certifications, and accreditation requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Master's Degree in Civil Engineering/Materials Engineering (preferred).
• Minimum 6 years of experience in building material testing laboratories, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
