Platform Engineer, AVP

Responsibilities

• Keep our platforms robust, cost‑efficient, and consistently optimised.
• Enhance the technology stack by introducing new features and addressing defects in a timely manner.
• Contribute to the codebase, ensuring it remains clean, elegant, reusable, easy to maintain and extend.
• Proactively perform code and design peer reviews.
• Prioritise platforms and operational issues, defects, and maintenance activities while delivering highly available, high‑performing solutions.
• Own, develop, and improve platform engineering tools, processes, and ways of working.
• Pioneer new ideas to improve the platform delivery lifecycle, from design and coding to automation and effective operational support.
• Implement identity, authentication, mobility, messaging, and collaboration solutions on the Microsoft Cloud.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands‑on experience in Azure, with the ability to design, build, and deploy solutions using CI/CD practices.
• Deep understanding of Azure resources, particularly AKS, Cosmos DB, SQL DB, and key networking components.
• Strong knowledge of Azure and infrastructure‑as‑code (IaC) tools such as Bicep, Terraform, and ARM templates.
• Advocate for containerisation and cloud‑native solutions, championing best practices across modern platform engineering.
• Solid understanding of CI/CD principles and API management.
• Hands‑on experience with Azure administration, Hub‑and‑Spoke networking, and cloud best practices across platform and security.
• Experience with real‑time logging and monitoring using tools such as New Relic, Log Analytics, AppInsights, and Azure Monitor.
• Experience implementing DR strategies and business continuity plans.
• Hands‑on experience with Microsoft tools and technologies including Azure AD, Microsoft 365, Device Management/Endpoint Manager, and cloud best practices across platform and security.
