Job summary

Bain & Company in India seeks an Associate- Sustainability (S&R) to lead small sustainability workstreams, structure complex problems, and deliver client-ready analyses. The candidate will translate findings into actionable recommendations, coach analysts, and contribute to S&R CoE IP and tooling, under project leadership guidance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 2-5 years of relevant experience, or Master's with 0-3 years.
• Exposure to sustainability, consulting, data analytics, or related fields preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint; experience with analytics/visualisation tools.
• Familiarity with coding, automation, and AI tools preferred but not mandatory.

Job Description

Case Management and Problem Solving

Lead discrete workstreams or smaller sustainability cases, ensuring high-quality delivery and strong client impact.

Structure complex problems, define analytical approaches, and own analyses end-to-end under Project Leader guidance.

Review Analyst outputs, resolve challenges, and translate findings into clear recommendations.

Sustainability Expertise

Build and apply expertise across topics including decarbonisation, emissions benchmarking, regulations, and sustainability strategy.

Apply relevant frameworks such as Scope 1/2/3 emissions, target setting, transition pathways, CSRD, and CDP.

Stay current on emerging sustainability topics and translate developments into practical client insights.

Data Analysis and Technical Proficiency

Use tools such as Excel, Alteryx, Tableau, Tableau Prep, and Power BI to analyse complex datasets and create impactful visualisations.

Build analytical models to support benchmarking, scenario assessment, and strategy development.

Apply automation, coding, and AI-enabled approaches to improve analytical rigour and team efficiency.

Communication and Stakeholder Engagement

Communicate findings and implications clearly to internal and external stakeholders, including senior Bain leadership.

Collaborate with Project Leaders, case teams, and experts to resolve issues across workstreams.

Manage and coach Analysts and contribute to S&R CoE IP, tools, and capability development.

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree with 2-5 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree with 0-3 years of relevant experience.

Prior exposure to sustainability, consulting, data analytics, engineering, economics, environmental studies, or a related field is strongly preferred.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills, with experience using at least one analytics or visualisation tool such as Alteryx, Tableau, Tableau Prep, or Power BI.

Working knowledge of sustainability topics such as emissions benchmarking, decarbonisation, regulatory analysis, or disclosure frameworks.

Strong communication, collaboration, and team-management skills.

Familiarity with coding, automation, and AI tools is preferred but not mandatory.
