Job summary

NIQ is seeking an Associate Software Engineer in Chennai to contribute to revamping a unified data platform on Azure. You will develop Java backend services, implement RESTful APIs, and collaborate with product and QA teams to deliver reliable software.

The role requires 1–2 years of Java experience, exposure to Spring Boot, and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and cloud concepts. No relocation required; Chennai-based opportunity with NIQ’s tech teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 1–2 years of proficiency in at least one programming language, preferably Java.
• Exposure to Spring Boot through academic projects, internships, certifications, or personal projects.
• Familiarity with design patterns such as Factory, Singleton, and Observer.
• Basic understanding of Spring Data JPA or ORM concepts.
• Knowledge of unit testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito.
• Exposure to API documentation tools such as Swagger/OpenAPI.
• Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
• Understanding of containerization technologies such as Docker.
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
• Basic awareness of secure coding practices and OWASP security principles.
• Exposure to AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar coding assistants.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance Java applications and backend services using Java and related frameworks.
• Write clean, readable, and maintainable code following established coding standards and best practices.
• Implement well-defined features and enhancements based on functional and technical requirements with guidance from senior engineers.
• Develop and consume RESTful APIs, understanding basic client-server communication and HTTP concepts.
• Collaborate with product, QA, and engineering teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
• Participate in code reviews and learn modern software engineering practices.
• Write and execute unit tests to ensure application quality and reliability.
