Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking an experienced engineer to oversee and design grid automation solutions. You will review engineering documents, analyze customer specs, and develop reliable SCADA and Substation Automation configurations that meet project requirements.

Ideal candidates have 3–8 years in SAS, system architecture, and large utility projects, with strong communication skills and familiarity with AutoCAD/E3/MicroStation/MS Visio.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in electrical/electronics engineering or related field.
• 3–8 years of experience in SCADA, Substation Automation, and System Architecture Design.
• Knowledge of SAS and conventional control systems.
• Experience with 66 kV to 765 kV projects.
• Familiarity with Hitachi Energy products and competitor technologies.

Our Indian Operations Centre (INOPC) is a competence center with around 3000+ skilled engineers who focus on tendering, engineering, planning, procurement, functional system testing, installation supervision, and commissioning. Over the last decade, INOPC has evolved to become the largest engineering hub serving more than 40+ countries across different energy sectors.

This position caters to Grid Automation commissioning team overseeing the installation and commissioning of Bay level secondary equipment’s. Manage completion of all commissioning activities efficiently and cost-effectively and in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.

How you’ll make an impact:

• Review and verify engineering design documents and prepare project-specific engineering deliverables.
• Analyze customer specifications to develop reliable and optimized SCADA and Substation Automation solutions.
• Ensure designs meet customer requirements while optimizing cost, quality, and technical performance in line with engineering standards.
• Utilize proven engineering practices and standard solutions to improve efficiency and reduce engineering effort.
• Deliver engineering documentation on time while maintaining compliance with quality standards and project schedules.
• Participate in customer, consultant, and design review meetings to resolve technical issues and clarify requirements.
• Provide technical support to project management teams for customer clarifications, change requests, and technical discussions.
• Support manufacturing and production teams by resolving engineering-related issues and minimizing production delays.
• Act as a technical interface with customers, effectively presenting and explaining automation and control system solutions.
• Ensure customer requirements are translated into practical, compliant, and cost-effective engineering designs.
• Contribute to successful execution of multiple projects while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction, quality, and schedule adherence.
• Maintain effective communication and collaboration with internal stakeholders, customers, and project teams.
• Demonstrate the ability to work independently while contributing effectively in a team environment.

Your background:

• Bachelor’s degree/Diploma in electrical engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Approximately 3–8 years of experience in SCADA, Substation Automation, System Architecture Design, and Engineering of medium to large utility projects ranging from 66 kV to 765 kV.
• Strong knowledge of Substation Automation Systems (SAS) and conventional control systems.
• In-depth understanding of automation systems for transmission and distribution substations.
• Knowledge of Hitachi Energy products and solutions, along with awareness of competitor products and technologies.
• Working with knowledge of automation system architectures and communication networks.
• Experience with engineering and design tools such as: AutoCAD, E3 Series, MicroStation, MS Visio
• Knowledge of substation communication protocols and SCADA integration concepts.
• Experience in engineering design reviews, customer interactions, and technical discussions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve technical challenges.
