Job summary

Pfizer's Vizag site in Visakhapatnam, India seeks an Instrumentation & Automation Maintenance Lead to secure reliable operation of instrumentation and automation systems across manufacturing lines.

You will drive RCA, reliability improvements, and digitalization projects while supporting energy-saving and cost optimization, focusing on uptime, MTBF/MTTR, and GMP compliance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 8+ years experience or associate’s degree with 6+ years or BA/BS with 2+ years or MBA/MS with any years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with Root Cause Failure Analysis, Equipment Criticality Ranking, PM/PdM optimization, and/or Failure Modes and Effects Analysis.
  • Experience with process automation systems.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Current Good Manufacturing Practices (GxP).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of MS Excel.
  • Ability to manage complex issues and foster consensus among teams.

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance Lead preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance activities for instrumentation and automation systems.
  • Ensure reliable operation of instruments including pressure, temperature, flow, level transmitters, analyzers, and control valves.
  • Support and maintain PLC, DCS, SCADA, and Filling Line troubleshooting.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve instrumentation and automation issues affecting production.
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring failures.
  • Implement reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Drive automation upgrades and digitalization projects.
  • Support energy-saving and cost optimization programs.
  • Maintain KPIs: Instrument uptime, MTBF/MTTR, maintenance schedule compliance, and GMP compliance.

What You Will Achieve
Instrumentation & Automation

Here Is What You Need (Minimum Requirements)
  • High school diploma (or equivalent) with 8+ years of experience or associate’s degree with 6+ years of experience or BA/BS with 2+ years of experience or MBA/MS with any years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with Root Cause Failure Analysis, Equipment Criticality Ranking, PM/PdM optimization, and/or Failure Modes and Effects Analysis.
  • Experience with process automation systems.

  • Experience using common AI tools, including generative technologies such as ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot, to support problem solving and enhance productivity.
  • Demonstrated curiosity for exploring how these tools can improve outcomes and understanding of responsible AI practices, including risk management and ethical use.
