Purpose/Objective
To lead and coordinate Electrical Construction, Erection, Testing & Commissioning activities for Thermal Power Plant Projects, ensuring safe, timely, and quality execution of BTG and BOP electrical systems within approved project schedules and budgets.
Key Responsibilities of Role
- Electrical Project Execution - Execute electrical construction and installation activities for Thermal Power Plant projects.
- Supervise erection of Transformers, HT/LT Switchgear, MCCs, PCCs, Bus Ducts, Cable Systems, Earthing & Lighting Systems.
- Ensure compliance with approved engineering drawings, technical specifications, and project standards.
- Monitor project progress and ensure achievement of construction milestones.
- Testing & Commissioning - Plan and execute pre-commissioning, testing, and commissioning activities for electrical systems.
- Coordinate with OEMs, consultants, contractors, and commissioning teams.
- Conduct testing of power transformers, switchgear, motors, protection systems, cables, and switchyard equipment.
- Support unit synchronization and plant startup activities.
- Switchyard & Power Distribution Systems - Manage erection and commissioning of AIS/GIS switchyards.
- Ensure successful commissioning of power evacuation systems, protection schemes, and control systems.
- Oversee electrical interfaces between generation and transmission systems.
- Project Planning & Control - Review project schedules and ensure timely resource deployment.
- Coordinate with Civil, Mechanical, C&I, Planning, and Quality teams.
- Identify risks, bottlenecks, and recommend mitigation plans.
- Track progress against project milestones and provide regular MIS updates.
- Contractor & Vendor Management - Monitor contractor productivity, quality, and safety compliance.
- Verify measurement sheets, work completion reports, and contractor bills.
- Coordinate with vendors/OEMs for installation, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning support.
- Quality & Safety - Ensure adherence to safety policies, electrical standards, and statutory regulations.
- Implement quality assurance and quality control procedures at site.
- Participate in audits, inspections, and safety reviews.
- Promote a strong safety culture with zero accident objectives.
