Job summary

Jindal Stainless (JSL) in Kharagpur, West Bengal, requires an Executive / Associate Manager to oversee erection, commissioning, operation and maintenance of utility systems including boilers, RO, ETP, STP, DM, Softener, UF, and ZLD facilities.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of experience in operation, maintenance, erection, and commissioning of Boilers, RO Plant, ETP, STP, DM Plant, ZLD Systems, Water Treatment Plants, Utility Systems.
• Experience in Steel Plants, CRM, Metal Industries, Chemical Industries, or Large Process Industries preferred.
• B.E./B.Tech. Mechanical Engineering is required.

Responsibilities

• Project execution, erection, and commissioning of utility systems including boilers and water treatment plants.
• Operate and maintain boilers (Coal/Gas/Oil fired) and WHRB, steam distribution systems, and boiler auxiliaries.
• Operate RO/DM/ETP/STP and ZLD facilities; ensure reliability and regulatory compliance.
• Plan preventive and breakdown maintenance; monitor energy and water consumption.
• Monitor costs, prepare MIS and utility performance reports; identify energy conservation opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with boiler regulations and environmental norms; conduct safety audits.
• Supervise operators, technicians, engineers, and contract manpower; coordinate with Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, and Production teams.

Job Purpose

To execute and manage erection, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of utility systems including Boilers, RO Plant, ETP, STP, DM Plant, Softener Plant, and Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) Systems. The role is responsible for ensuring uninterrupted utility availability, water treatment efficiency, steam generation reliability, environmental compliance, cost optimization, and safe plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

Project Execution, Erection Commissioning

• Supervise erection, installation, testing, and commissioning of Boilers, RO, ETP, STP, DM, UF, Softener, MVR, MEE, ATFD, and ZLD systems.
• Review PIDs, GA drawings, process flow diagrams, equipment layouts, and utility piping drawings.
• Monitor site execution activities, contractor productivity, material availability, and project schedules.

Boiler Operation Maintenance

• Operate and maintain Coal Fired/Gas Fired/Oil Fired Boilers, Waste Heat Recovery Boilers (WHRB), Steam Distribution Systems, and Boiler Auxiliaries.
• Ensure safe and efficient steam generation as per production requirements.
• Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with statutory inspections and boiler regulations.
• Conduct root cause analysis of boiler trips and operational issues.

Water Treatment Plant Operation Maintenance

• Operate and maintain RO, DM Plant, Softener Plant, UF System, ETP, STP, and ZLD facilities.
• Ensure availability and reliability of pumps, blowers, filters, clarifiers, dosing systems, agitators, and related equipment.
• Plan preventive and breakdown maintenance activities.

ETP, STP ZLD Operations

• Operate ETP and STP facilities in compliance with environmental norms.
• Manage clarifiers, aeration systems, sludge dewatering, biological treatment systems, and filtration units.
• Operate and monitor ZLD facilities.

Cost Control Utility Optimization

• Prepare and monitor monthly utility operating costs.
• Prepare monthly MIS reports and utility performance reports.
• Identify opportunities for energy conservation, water recovery, cost reduction, and process improvement.
• Monitor specific steam consumption and specific water consumption.

Safety, Environment Compliance

• Ensure compliance with Boiler Regulations, Pollution Control Board requirements, and plant safety standards.
• Conduct safety audits, inspections, risk assessments, and corrective actions.
• Support ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and Environmental Management Systems.
• Ensure safe storage and handling of boiler and water treatment chemicals.

Team Contractor Management

• Supervise operators, technicians, engineers, and contract manpower.
• Monitor contractor performance, quality, and productivity.
• Coordinate with Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Utility, and Production teams.

Required Skills Competencies

Technical Skills

• Hands-on experience in Boiler Operation Maintenance, Boiler Water Chemistry, RO Plant, ETP, STP, DM Plant, Softener Plant, UF System, ZLD Systems, MVR, MEE ATFD Operations
• Ability to read and interpret PIDs, GA drawings, and utility process flow diagrams.
• Understanding of environmental compliance and statutory utility requirements.
