Experience: 2-5 years
This is Loop s first dedicated legal hire and an important step in building the legal function. You will work directly with the Chief of Staff, own day-to-day legal execution, and build the templates, playbooks, and SOPs that protect the company as it scales.
We are looking for someone who wants to build with the team over the long term and retain ownership of the systems they create. This position will focus on de-risking the business and work closely with the Sales, Marketing, Product, and Finance teams to remove legal roadblocks.
Responsibilities
Commercial Contracts
- - Draft, review, and negotiate SaaS MSAs, Order Forms, DPAs, NDAs, vendor agreements, partner agreements, and other commercial contracts
Merchant Negotiations
- - Lead issue-based discussions with merchants and their legal counsel, understand commercial concerns, explain Loop s position, and agree on workable fallbacks
Contract Standards
- - Maintain templates and clause positions in response to legal or regulatory changes, and periodically redesign the contract suite to remove inconsistencies, reflect negotiation history, and improve clarity
Privacy and Data
- - Support compliance with the EU GDPR, UK GDPR, and applicable US state privacy laws, while aligning the MSA, DPA, privacy notices, and incident obligations
Product and Consumer Regulations
- - Assess cookie and tracking requirements, API and data-access terms, and subscription, auto-renewal, and cancellation rules across relevant markets; translate findings into product and contract actions
Security and Assurance
- - Partner with Engineering, Security, and Operations on PCI DSS responsibilities, SOC 2 readiness, customer security reviews, and legal evidence required for audits
IP, Employment, and General Advisory
- - Support IP protection and licensing, HR policies, employment and consultant documentation, and routine business-contract reviews
Legal Operations and Risk Discovery
- - Create intake, approval, escalation, repository, and obligation-tracking SOPs; proactively identify unaddressed legal risks, prioritise them, and drive practical mitigation with internal teams or external counsel
Ideal Profile
- - Law degree from a recognised institution and 2-5 years of relevant experience
- - Hands-on commercial contract drafting and negotiation experience
- - SaaS, technology, or in-house legal experience is strongly preferred
- - Ability to research unfamiliar multi-jurisdictional questions, distinguish legal requirements from business preferences, and provide clear recommendations
- - Comfortable speaking directly with merchants, business teams, and technical stakeholders
- - Strong drafting discipline, attention to detail, and judgement regarding when to accept, negotiate, or elevate risk
- - Strong ownership mindset
Perks
- - Annual leaves
- - Free lunch and snacks
- - Annual company retreat
