Job summary

HARMAN Automotive is seeking a Build and Integration Engineer with strong Yocto Project expertise to configure and build Linux distributions for embedded systems. You will develop Yocto layers, integrate third‑party libraries, triage build issues, and collaborate with CI/DevOps to optimize workflows.

A Bachelor's in CS and strong C/Linux skills are required; in Bengaluru you’ll join a global team building advanced automotive infotainment platforms.

Qualifications

• Strong Yocto Project experience, with recipes and layers.
• Proficient in Python/shell scripting.
• C programming and Linux expertise.
• Experience with Git and CI/CD tools.
• Knowledge of automotive infotainment is a plus.

About the Role:
We’re looking for an experienced Build and Integration Engineer with expertise in Yocto Project to configure, customize, and build Linux distributions for embedded systems. You’ll develop Yocto layers and recipes, integrate third-party libraries, and optimize build processes.

What You Will Do:

• Use the Yocto Project to configure, customize, and build Linux distributions for embedded systems.

• Development of new Yocto Layer and recipe for all development related to the project

• Integrate third-party libraries, tools, and drivers into custom Linux distributions.

• Development of new Yocto Layer and recipe for all development related to the project

• Triaging build failures, providing solutions/guidance to users.

• Actively collaborating with CI/Build implementation team on major failures/findings.

• Troubleshoot build issues and optimize build times.

• Knowledge of gitlab CI/CD

• Collaborate with DevOps teams to optimize workflows and ensure seamless integration.

What You Need to Be Successful:

• Strong experience with the Yocto Project, including writing recipes, layers, and customizing images within continuous integration (CI) environment.

• Knowledge and Good Hands-on experience of scripting languages (Python, shell-scripting).

• Proficient in C programming and Linux.

• Experience in version control systems (e.g., Git) and build automation tools

• Familiarity with tools like menuconfig, make, and kernel patches.

• Experience with Jfrog, Artifactory, Gitlab CI.

• Knowledge of automotive infotainment system architecture and components.

Bonus Points if You Have:

• Experience with Android architecture and build system
• Knowledge of Bazel build system
• Familiarity with automotive infotainment system architecture and components
