Responsibilities

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking an Associate Engineer to support the planning, analysis, design, and construction of geotechnical components across civil works (dams/hydropower, tunnels, conveyance/pipelines), water and wastewater, site development, and energy infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in geotechnical investigations including review of borelogs, laboratory & field test data, and site investigation reports.
• Support the analysis and design of foundations, cut & fill retention structures, embankments and slopes, and ground improvement & dewatering systems.
• Assist with geotechnical calculations, technical memoranda, and design reports.
• Provide geotechnical design support for grading, drainage, pavements, and underground structures.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, water, and environmental disciplines to integrate geotechnical solutions.
• Support quality checks and ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and Black & Veatch procedures

Management Responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with specialization or coursework in Geotechnical Engineering.
• Strong fundamentals in soil mechanics, foundation engineering, slope stability, earthquake engineering, and geotechnical investigation methods.
• Familiarity with geotechnical analysis tools and software packages such as Geostudio (SLOPE/W, SEEP/W), Rocscience suite, LPILE, PLAXIS, etc.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to safety and engineering quality.
• Willingness to learn geotechnical standards, software, and best practices.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary and global delivery environment.
• Good communication skills and professional attitude

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing.Minimum of 1 year related work experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
