Job summary

Buro Happold is seeking an Associate Electrical Engineer in Pune to lead the electrical discipline on major high-rise, infrastructure and mixed-use developments. You will drive design solutions, engage with clients, and guide architects and developers to ensure value and compliance with standards.

The role emphasizes technical leadership, project financial oversight and collaboration across disciplines, with a focus on ELV, low voltage and BMS systems to support net-zero ambitions and project

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in building environment
• Proven ability to manage a team and lead electrical discipline on projects
• Experience with ELV, fire alarm, low voltage, and BMS systems
• Knowledge of HT/LT power distribution networks
• Transformer, DG, UPS selections and associated approvals
• Familiarity with Indian standards and codes of practice
• Ability to mentor junior engineers and maintain client relationships

Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical discipline on projects for the group, acting as Job or Project Leader as appropriate
• Communicate directly with clients, offering innovative design solutions and managing expectations
• Develop relationships with clients, contractors, architects and developers
• Prepare technical and financial proposals for new work
• Manage workload of engineers and technicians
• Monitor job financials and plan resources and expenditure
• Attend design reviews and undertake site visits as needed
• Ensure compliance with policies, standards and applicable laws
• Mentor team members and promote best practices

Your next role

• Lead the electrical discipline on projects on behalf of the group (operating as Job or Project Leader as appropriate), taking ownership for sustained and productive client relationships.
• Communicating directly with Clients, offering innovative design solutions and managing expectations.
• Further developing relationships with existing and new clients including contractors, architects and developers.
• Preparing technical and financial proposals for new work.
• Managing workload of engineers and technicians
• Monitor financial performance of jobs as well as setting up and managing job/project administrative systems, including planning and monitoring job resourcing/expenditure.
• Undertake project technical/quality reviews and attend design reviews for projects.
• Undertake site visits as needed for the smooth operation of the project(s).
• Continually ensuring that practices, policies, strategy and services represent the client’s best interests and that Buro Happold policy is in keeping with current legislation, Indian Standards and Codes of Practice.
• Having a hands-on approach to all technical aspects of this role and being a domain expert to your team.
• Embracing technologies to improve performance and sustainability to meet to net zero targets by 2030.
• Ensuring projects are carried out to an excellent standard, within agreed deadlines and budget.
• Actively engage with colleagues across disciplines, in group discussions and at events and seminars.
• Autonomously represents Buro Happold to clients, architects and collaborators.

Your skills and experience

• 15+ Years of Experience in building environment
• An enthusiasm for delivering simple effective solutions to solve complex problems.
• Proven ability to manage a team.
• A respected designer of electrical engineering systems with experience across a broad range of sectors
• The ability to accept a high degree of responsibility for project technical and financial performance.
• Strong interpersonal and organisational skills, able to develop relationships with clients, architects and other team members.
• Understanding of ELV, Fire alarm, low voltage systems and BMS system.
• Understanding of HT/LT - power distribution networks.
• Understanding about the transformer selection, DG selection, UPS selections, product approval process. Factory acceptance and Site acceptance tests etc.
• Although electrically biased it is expected that you will have a good understanding of other design disciplines or other utility.
• Domain expertise in codes and standards in your field.
• Being that Mentor you wanted to have / had when you were a Junior Engineer.
• A Bachelor’s degree BEng/BSc or Master’s degree MEng/MSc in a relevant discipline.
