Job summary

Chalhoub Group’s Capability Hub in Bengaluru is seeking a junior data engineer to support ingestion, transformation, and BI reporting on our cloud data platform. You will work with SQL and Python, assist in building robust data pipelines, and learn best practices under senior engineers.

Exposure to Google BigQuery, Apache Airflow, and dbt, plus familiarity with Looker, will help you contribute to data quality and analytics initiatives while growing your career within a diverse, inclusive

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in data engineering or a related technical area.
• Exposure to Google BigQuery, Apache Airflow, and dbt.
• Familiarity with BI tools such as Looker.

Responsibilities

• Assist data engineering in writing ingestion and transformation scripts using SQL and Python.
• Execute automated tests to support data quality.
• Monitor pipeline job schedules in Apache Airflow and address failures.
• Maintain Looker reports and dashboards.
• Support data transformation tasks using dbt on Google BigQuery.
• Help investigate and resolve basic data ingestion issues under guidance.
• Collaborate with the data engineering team and apply best practices.

What you'll be doing

Support the data engineering team by writing ingestion scripts, executing automated data tests, monitoring pipeline schedules, and maintaining BI reports on the Group's cloud data platform.

• Assist senior data engineers in writing SQL and Python ingestion and transformation scripts.
• Execute automated data tests to support data quality.
• Monitor pipeline job schedules in Apache Airflow and elevate failures and delays.
• Maintain Looker reports and dashboards.
• Support data transformation tasks using dbt on Google BigQuery.
• Help investigate and resolve basic data ingestion issues under guidance.
• Collaborate with the data engineering team, learning and applying data engineering best practices.

What you’ll need to succeed

• Minimum 1 year of experience in data engineering or a related technical area.
• Working proficiency in SQL and Python.
• Exposure to Google BigQuery, Apache Airflow, and dbt.
• Familiarity with BI tools such as Looker.
• Foundational understanding of ETL/ELT, data pipelines, and data quality concepts.
