Job summary

Surya Hospital in Pune invites a pediatric intensive care specialist to oversee clinical care of critically ill infants and children, diagnose, treat, and monitor progress while participating in ward rounds with consultants.

You will supervise interns/residents, provide teaching, and lead resuscitation efforts as needed. You will communicate clearly with families and MDT members and maintain thorough documentation in a fast-paced ICU setting.

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, and manage critically ill infants and children
• Perform detailed patient examinations and formulate treatment plans
• Monitor patient progress and adjust management accordingly
• Participate in ward rounds with consultants
• Perform and supervise procedures such as intubation and airway management, central and arterial line insertion, lumbar puncture, ventilator management
• Respond to emergencies (e.g., cardiac arrest, sepsis, trauma)
• Supervise junior doctors (interns, residents)
• Provide clinical guidance and teaching
• Lead resuscitation teams when required
• Communicate effectively with patients families (updates, counseling, consent)
• Communicate with multidisciplinary teams (nurses, respiratory therapists, specialists)
• Maintain accurate and clear documentation
• Provide 24/7 emergency cover on a rota basis
• Handle acute admissions and deteriorating patients
• Participate in teaching sessions and case discussions
• Engage in continuous medical education (CME)
• Support training of junior staff
