Job summary

ABB is seeking a Commissioning Engineer in Bengaluru to lead and execute commissioning activities for excitation systems, AVR, and Unitrol solutions across Hydro, Thermal, and power generation projects. You will collaborate with project teams to ensure on-time milestones and successful handovers, with extensive travel across Pan India (up to 80%).

The role requires 2–4 years of relevant experience and a BE/BTech or Diploma in electrical disciplines.

Qualifications

• Experience in testing, commissioning, and startup activities for excitation systems, AVR/ VFD, and Unitrol in power generation projects.
• Diploma or BE/BTech in Electrical/Electronics/EEE/EC or related disciplines with good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Solid knowledge of electrical systems with practical experience in Hydro, Thermal, and power plant projects, supporting system integration and performance validation.

Responsibilities

• Executed testing, commissioning for Excitation Systems, AVR and Unitrol solutions in Hydro, Thermal, and Power Generation projects, ensuring proper system integration and performance validation.
• Supported planning, coordination, and execution of commissioning activities while collaborating with engineering and project teams to ensure timely completion of milestones and seamless system handover.
• Implemented commissioning-related design changes and updated as-built project documentation through technical mark-ups, ensuring accurate records and adherence to engineering standards.
• Applied established commissioning processes, procedures, and quality requirements to ensure all testing and commissioning activities were executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contractual obligations.
• Conducted technical risk and opportunity assessments during commissioning phases, identifying potential issues, implementing mitigation measures, and supporting reliable system operation and project objectives.
