Job summary

GEA Group is seeking an Associate Automation Engineer to design, implement, and commission automation systems including PLC, HMI, SCADA, and MES. The role requires hands-on work with Siemens platforms (TIA Portal, STEP7, WinCC) and hands-on experience across electrical drawings and P&ID understanding.

The engineer will be based in Vadodara, India, with extensive travel across India and abroad, collaborating with global teams and supporting onsite commissioning activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation & Controls or related field.
• 5-8 years experience in dairy/chemical/food/beverage/pharma industries with process control background.

Responsibilities

• Software development and commissioning of automation systems (PLC, HMI, SCADA, MES).
• PLC logic development and SCADA screen development; FAT and MES reporting.
• Prepare electrical panel FAT and onsite commissioning.
• Collaborate with cross-functional and global teams; work independently with minimal supervision.
• Travel extensively across India and abroad as needed.

Job description

Role & Responsibilities - Associate Automation Engineer

• Software development and commissioningof automation systems - PLC, HMI, SCADA, MES
• PLC logic development, SCADA Screen development, Software FAT, incorporating MES Reports.
• Various technical documentation preparation.
• Electrical Panel FAT.
• Onsite commissioning.
• Partner with cross-functional teams within and outside the organization.
• Working in close collaboration with GEA global & local teams.
• Must be able to work independently, remotely, and with minimal supervision
• Must be capable of adapting quickly across job functions and responsibilities

Tasks - Associate Automation Engineer

• Software Logic Development in Automation Platform Siemens
• HMI/SCADA Screen Development in Siemens
• HMI/SCADA Screen Development in Ignition/Intouch added advantage.
• FDS write up and development.
• Incorporating MES Reports using different inhouse MES Products & Tools.
• Electrical Panel FAT.
• Onsite commissioning activities.
• The Engineer would be based in Vadodara, India office.
• Extensive travel will be required, Involving extended periods on sites throughout India & abroad.

Your profile and qualifications

Bachelor of Engineering Degree in

• Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation & Controls or similar education background

Work Experience - Associate Automation Engineer

• 5-8 year
• Experience on any Dairy / Chemical Industry / Food / Beverages / Pharma / Brewery
• Background in control systems-related software design for process/equipment control

Skills - Associate Automation Engineer

• Experience of basic automation platform- e.g., Siemens - TIA Portal, STEP7, WinCC
• Knowhow on HMIs specifically Siemens TIA HMI configuration, Siemens WinCC flexible, other systems also an advantage e.g., Rockwell, GE iFix System platform etc.
• Experience of various programming languages e.g., ladder, SCL, STL, FBD
• Strong software logic development and SCADA Screen development skills.
• Know how of basic MES.
• Experience of Danfoss/SIEMENS VFD
• Experience of preparing FDS
• Basic knowledge of Electrical drawing reading and components.
• Basic knowledge and understanding of P&ID drawing.
• Good experience in onsite commissioning activities.
• Know how of Profibus/Profinet and Industrial Ethernet Network components.
• Experience in engineering activity with varying functions from system design to commissioning
• Proficient at troubleshooting and fault findings.
• Experience on other control system platform like Allen Bradley shall be added advantage
