Job summary

United Airlines India Knowledge Center is seeking an Associate Developer to join the Data Products and BI team. You will design, build, and deploy data products and dashboards for United leadership, enabling data-driven decisions to improve on-time performance and customer experience.

You will work with Ops groups to translate needs into datasets and visualizations, while developing backend data layers and maintaining robust queries for actionable insights.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field.
• 6 months to 2 years experience in BI, analytics, and/or data engineering.
• Working knowledge of SQL and SSMS.
• Experience with BI dashboarding tools (PowerBI, Spotfire) for meaningful dashboards.
• Exposure to Python, Spark, or similar for data queries and reporting.
• Excellent communication skills; fluent in English and Hindi.
• Must be legally authorized to work in India without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Develop/maintain tables to support data ingestion and transformation processes with data quality.
• Build data products including dashboards and mobile reports for Ops leadership.
• Develop and implement automation workflows across turns and air ops performance.
• Create and maintain a single source of truth for Ops data with governance.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity.
• Exposure to AI/LLM-based tools and automation frameworks is a plus.

Job Overview and Responsibilities

United Ops Performance team is responsible to support Network Operations across different functional areas including flight times, turn performance, delay insights, customer journey, bags, air traffic control, aircraft maintenance and routing, ground time, airport staffing, airport congestion and construction, fuel utilization, irregular operations, etc. The Associate Developer will support the Data Products and BI team to design, build and deploy data products including dashboards to United leadership with the goal of enabling better operational decisions that improve on-time performance and customer experience. The Associate Developer will work with various Ops business groups to understand organizational needs and design requirements, build solutions to support high priority strategic projects. The focus will be to build datasets that drive BI visualizations and help our Ops leaders to go from data to insights quickly and drive performance. This person will support projects and help bring new concepts to life by closely with Ops leaders. This role will require hands‑on development work, such as developing backend data layers, maintaining queries and generating actionable insights using BI tools.

• Assist to develop/maintain tables to support data ingestion and transformation process, while ensuring data quality and availability to support operations
• Assist to build data products including dashboards and mobile reporting products to support Ops leadership on day-to-day functions that helps them make data driven decisions and answer key questions from the eTeam
• Assist with the development and implementation for automation workflows across multiple functional areas including Turns and Air Ops performance
• Build and maintain the "single source of truth" for United's Ops data and ensure data integrity through robust governance process
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilotand similar platforms to improve productivity
• Exposure to AI/LLM-based tools and automation frameworks is good to have

Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

• Bachelor's degree
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information sytems, engineering, or another quantitative field (i.e. mathematics, statistics, economics, etc.)
• At least 6 months - 2 year experience in business intelligence, analytics, and/or data engineering
• Working knowledge of SQL and Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio
• Working knowledge of BI dashboarding tools (e.g. PowerBI, Tibco Spotfire, etc...) to produce meaningful, elegant dashboards
• Exposure to both traditional and modern technologies/languages (i.e. Python, Spark Node, etc.) for queries, procedures, and final formatted reporting in an email format
• Good communication skills
• Must be legally authorized to work in India for any employer without sponsorship
• Must be fluent in English and Hindi (written and spoken)
• Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
• Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
