Optum is seeking an AI/ML engineer to translate product requirements into scalable technical plans. You will collaborate with product and development teams to deliver features on time, own the feature lifecycle, and drive modern AI solutions across the stack.

The role emphasizes GenAI, LLMs, and RAG architectures, with hands-on work in Java, Python, React, and cloud services to integrate AI into enterprise applications.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering or related fields.
• Hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, Camunda, Node.js, Next.js, GraphQL, Kafka.
• Hands-on experience with React, Typescript, and web components.
• Experience with Snowflake/Big Data for reporting.
• Experience with Java Spring Framework, API, Angular, React and Kafka in projects.
• Design and implement AI/ML solutions focusing on GenAI, LLMs, and RAG architectures.

Primary Responsibilities

• Be able to understand the feature requirements from the product and be able to come up with Technical Solutions keeping in mind the Scalability, Extensibility, Security, Cost etc. Come up with a plan break down the feature in workable stories. Work closely with Product & Development team
• Proven good written and verbal communication skills and be comfortable presenting to all stake holders
• Should be a good communicator and can coordinate well with business and other stake holders
• Work collaboratively with the team and should be able to help others on technical issues or functional questions they might have
• Be able to own a feature and run through with the team and deliver on agreed upon timelines
• Be very solid in analyzing & providing complete technical solutions for the given problems
• Own the applications’ technology stack and drive modern solutions to complex problems

Provides explanations and interpretations within area of expertise

• Comply with all applicable Company policies, procedures, and business directives, changes including those relating to work location, team assignments, work schedules, and flexible work arrangements

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science/IT/Math/Statistics/Engineering, or equivalent work experience
• 3+ years of overall experience in in AI/ML engineering or related fields
• Hands-on experience on Java, Spring boot, Camunda, Node.js , Next.js, Graphql, Kafka
• Hands-on experience on React, Typescript, Familiarity with web components/ Parcel component
• Experience with Snowflake/Big Data for Reporting
• Actively participate in projects deliverables within the Java Spring Framework, API, Angular, react and Kafka
• Design and implement AI/ML solutions with a focus on GenAI, LLMs, and RAG architectures and LLM evaluation frameworks
• Solid programming skills in Python and experience with ML frameworks (eg, PyTorch, TensorFlow)
• Integrate AI solutions into enterprise applications using Azure Services like Azure Document Intelligence Service

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in health care industry
• Experience working in Agile environment
