Job summary

The Corporate Institute in Mumbai seeks an experienced finance professional to lead the Valuation & Pricing team within our Fund Administration business. As AVP, you will own end-to-end pricing operations, manage daily workflows, ensure SLA compliance, and drive process improvements for hedge fund portfolio holdings across asset classes.

You will partner with internal teams and external pricing vendors, overseeing governance, risk, and client relationships while mentoring a team of 5-8 pricing

Qualifications

• 6-8 years in Financial Services focus on asset valuation, pricing operations, or fund accounting (hedge fund exp. preferred).
• 2-3 years proven team management/leadership.
• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or Business Economics.
• Strong understanding of instruments across Equities, Fixed Income, Derivatives, and FX.
• Excel, Word, PowerPoint proficiency; strong communication and stakeholder management.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

Shift Timings: 06:00 PM to 03:00 AM and 7pm – 4am – should be ok with both shifts

• Valuation & pricing of assets (4+ years recent relevant experience is mandatory)

About the Role:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced finance professional to lead our Valuation & Pricing team in Mumbai. This is a critical leadership role within our Fund Administration business, responsible for overseeing the accurate and timely valuation of hedge fund portfolio holdings across multiple asset classes.

As Assistant Vice President, you will own the end-to-end pricing operations, manage daily workflows, ensure SLA compliance, and drive process improvements. You will act as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders, external vendors, and clients, ensuring operational excellence and transparency.

Key Responsibilities:

Valuation & Pricing Operations:

• Oversee daily valuation and pricing of portfolio holdings across asset classes including Equities, Fixed Income, Derivatives (Futures, Options, Swaps), FX, Mutual Funds, Rights, and Warrants
• Perform independent price verification, stale price monitoring, and variance/exception analysis
• Validate pricing sources and ensure adherence to client-specific valuation policies and fair value guidelines
• Review and sign-off Net Asset Value (NAV) calculations, financial statements, and performance reports
• Ensure accurate reference data mapping (ISINs, CUSIPs, Bloomberg IDs) to support pricing and trade lifecycle

Team Leadership & Management:

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 5-8 pricing/fund accounting professionals
• Plan, schedule, and manage daily workflows to ensure timely delivery of all client deliverables
• Conduct performance appraisals, manage leave planning, and identify training needs
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and collaboration

Stakeholder & Client Management:

• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams including Middle Office, Investor Relations, Fund Accounting, and Operational Support
• Liaise with external pricing vendors (Bloomberg, LSEG, ICE, Markit, Pricing Direct) to ensure data quality and resolve escalations
• Lead governance calls, client meetings, and quarterly business reviews
• Act as an escalation point for all pricing/valuation-related issues affecting NAV production or client relationships

Process Improvement & Automation:

• Drive operational efficiencies through automation and process re-engineering
• Identify and implement system enhancements to reduce manual intervention and errors
• Contribute to departmental initiatives and strategic projects (e.g., system migrations, new vendor onboarding)
• Develop and maintain SOPs, runbooks, and knowledge management documentation

Governance, Risk & Compliance:

• Ensure adherence to internal controls, audit readiness, and regulatory requirements
• Manage year-end audit processes, financial statement preparation, regulatory filings, and tax services
• Maintain robust governance frameworks for pricing exception management and variance reporting
• Support BCP (Business Continuity Planning), ERMA (Enterprise Risk Management), and control testing

Onboarding & Migrations:

• Own new client onboarding and intra-office migration projects
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth transitions and seamless service delivery
• Support new fund launches and system implementations

Candidate Profile:

Must-Haves:

• 6-8 years of experience in Financial Services, with a focus on asset valuation, pricing operations, or fund accounting (hedge fund experience preferred)
• 2-3 years of proven team management and leadership experience
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or Business Economics
• Strong understanding of financial instruments across Equities, Fixed Income, Derivatives, and FX
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with high attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

Good to Have:

• CA / CPA / CFA qualification (if CA qualified, 5+ years experience acceptable)
• Experience with pricing platforms: Bloomberg Terminal, LSEG Workspace, ICE, Markit, Pricing Direct
• Knowledge of fund accounting systems: Geneva, HiPort, Arcesium, Mainframe
• Exposure to Alteryx, VBA, or SQL for automation and reporting
• Experience in hedge fund operations, NAV review, and financial statement preparation
